The best thing about RVing

By Ann D.

The best thing about RVing is that you can visit out of town relatives and friends more often. We have a daughter in NJ who has had 2 babies since we have been fulltiming. We have been able to be around to help and enjoy these grandchildren. Our other daughter adopted 2 little boys 2 & 4 years from the Ukraine last year and we were there when they brought them home. We might not have even come east if it hadn't been for the girls being in NJ & SC. It gave us courage to come east and we discovered that every state has wonderful things to see.

We spent time around the Great Lakes. We took the Northern route over the Great Lakes on a couple of trips. We spent some time on Lake Huron. The weather was wonderful in August and everything was so peaceful.

We spent May in Florida a couple of years ago and found it is a good time to visit Florida. It was hot but if you stay at a park with 50 AMP hookups the air conditioning works great. The park we stayed in in Naples was practically empty. They said that the parks clear out starting in March & April so it's easy to get a place to stay. Sightseeing is a lot easier when the trafic is lighter.

The scenery that we have experienced has been spectacular!! We especially liked Utah & N. AZ parks. We camped at the National Monument run by the Navajo Indians at Canyon de Chelly. No hookups but there is no charge to stay.

We have been very lucky to not run into dangerous weather. We spent a couple of weeks in Rockport, TX. We had a wonderful time there in the Western Horizons park in April. It started raining and one Sat. it rained 19 inches. The water came up around our rig but the pads were built up well and we weren't in any danger. We were in Nashville when a wind blew a tree down right next to us at the Hermitage. Tornadoes have come near us but again we were lucky. We try to stay out of the areas where bad things happen at certain times of the year.
