Re: FulltimingarchergalI just enjoyed reading all the posts on this forum. I found a great deal on a Class A recently and bought it for cash - it's a 2000 and has low mileage. I am planning to start Full-Timing in the summer of 2009 - as soon as I retire. I guess I'm pretty luck as I expect to be fairly debt free and will have both retirement income and social security to pay the way. I've always been pretty independent, and I've been divorced for over 20 years - never remarried. I'll be selling a 2000 sq. ft. house and everything in it except a few family heirlooms (small). I'm planning to start "packing" the RV as soon as I pick it up next week and see what is a "reasonable" amount of things to keep. I am very excited about going away from the responsibility of keeping up a house and yard, and having so much stuff. I am planning to go out by myself at first. I'm trying for a volunteer position at a national park, but if that doesn't work out, I'll find another idea. The workamping thing looks interesting and when I get closer to the "launch date" I will most likely get registered with that site and see what comes along. All you ladies who are out there "solo" write to me - I am very interested in more about the things to "avoid" - which I am sure exist. I am pretty realistic about how this lifestyle will work - and it just feels very right for me. I'll be bringing 2 cats and possibly 1 dog for company. I'm outgoing, so I'm sure I'll make aquaintances and friends along the way.See RoTi item
Re: Would you buy an RV made in China?Dan BAmerica is selling out. Everything we buy is made overseas and now the last bastions of American industry is in jeopardy. I laugh at the guy putting gas in his honda talking on his cell phone dressed in his chinese made clothes complaining about HIS job being outsourced overseas. We are in big time trouble and people are too busy trying to save a buck here and a buck there to notice it. It's going to bite us and I hope it won't be to late to do something about it. I know some people will laugh this off but China is one of the biggest threats to global security and that's where we are sending all of our money.See RoTi item
Fulltiming - things you should think aboutReginaAfter 5 years fulltiming we're selling our 5er and buying a house (health). I read the post about the good things about fulltiming but here's some thoughts. If you sell your house and fulltime it's difficult to go back to a house. House prices rise and RV prices fall. (House prices are still higher than when we sold 5 years ago and we don't have the same money.) Storage is a big problem, you dispose of things and then if you want to move back you need to buy more. I wouldn't put anyone off fulltiming we've had 5 wonderful years but I would do some things differently.See RoTi item
Re: Trailer dealers conventionJoanneTwo RV dealerships in Calgary have told us they will no longer be selling Class B RV because of the cost. They said the Class B s are too expensive to sell. One place said they are getting out of motorized rvs all together. See RoTi item

Re: Why diesel costs more than gasBronxItalioManIt comes to my attention that these rising Diesel Fuel prices will eventually cause many Blue Collar Transportation companies to file bankrupt. This is a sad time for America, since back in the 80's and 90's many of our industries moved to Third World Countries, which was the start of selling America out. Everything we buy or own is shipped via, Freight Trains, Tractor Trailers and smaller Trucks etc. These mostly use Diesel Fuel. Well People, we are coming to a very bad time in our country, and the wealthy people this time will profit from it! It is the time in America for people to rise up and tell the Government what we need, as our Constitution was written specifically for our best interest? This was written in case that the one's in power declare an act of turning against it's own citizens, which is happening right before our very eyes! The most I can give as an answer to our rising costs in Diesel, and even Gas in general is GREED! I could go on and on about the dominoe effect that our society has been set up for, but that is another subject, and would not be fiting about this subject. These people could live anywhere in the World, and survive. We could be left to destroy ourselves, or be destroyed for that matter? PEOPLE, WAKE UP! DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO SELL US OUT! See RoTi item
Re: Emphasis on smaller vehiclesRon PawlettI understand that ford have got to stop leaking money but i think the f150 is one of their bestselling vehicles and they should not have delayed the new vehicle. Big mistake I know a few who were waiting and now are thinking about toyota.See RoTi item
Buying an RVBob KI'm really thinking about buying an RV despite the cost of fuel and the economy. We're retiring and intending to fulltime and think we should upgrade our 8yo Carriage 5er. Buying a new one is probably not a good idea or could we get a good deal now and what about selling our 5er? Or would buying a good fairly new used rig be the best idea. I like to hear from anyone who has bought or sold recently.See RoTi item
