"This lightweight truck camper features a pop-up roof that raises with an easy-to-operate crank system"

Palomino says "Bronco folding truck campers are built for the back roads. These lightweight truck-mounted campers are ideally suited for today’s pick up trucks with a low profile that enhances fuel efficiency and easy handling on the road. A roomy interior is created with a pop-up roof that increases living space. With hard sidewalls on the lower portion of the unit and the upper portion made of sturdy vinyl tent fabric, the roof is easily raised and lowered with a smooth operating crank-up lifting system."

JeffBought a used 2007 1250 Bronco last year and love it. I have it installed on 1/2 ton GMC with supersprings 3000lb and happy jac. Works well but it is very heavy for my half ton. I have gone also to a six ply but have not had the camper on since. Hope is that it gets rid of a little role. take it easy and all is fine. Great camper.
1251SB Bronco Owner Sept 09This camper has a dry weight of 1450#, you should plan to increase the spring capacity with air or helpers by a 1000#. You add water and gear, it gets loaded fast. Plus your weight and that of others in your vehicle etc. etc. How do I know? Just bought one, installed on a GMC Sierra Denali, short bed which is rated 3/4 ton. Although it rides with remaining spring, it's got some sag. It will need some help, as GMC springs are softer then most trucks and that's what gives you the comfy ride. If you are installing a 1/2 ton, I recommend you configure your rear suspension with air or helper springs to increase capacity. You want it to ride level, for both handling, and the function of the camper frig and appliances when parked. On our way home over eight states - I met several folks contemplating a buy, but seemed a little hesitant. My guess was fear of the unknown. A little foresight, planning and knowing the limits of the truck mods - get it modified first you'll be working on how to use the camper and enjoy it. We learned a lot on the way home, it was fun, we drove a little slower and enjoyed the sites. Set up was easy, had to remember the little things but by the 3rd set up, I had it up in minutes, and down the same. I have some minor mods to make on my truck, and the Mrs. is dreaming up all kinds of ideas for the camper. Loves her potty and privacy it offers, the appliances and features really add to the experience, and after the mods on the truck, I am expecting an even better driving experience and many of great trips. By the way, the truck ran 16 MPG when empty, and now runs about 12MPG. Yours may very depending on the rear end ratio. My truck is a trailer puller with a 4.10 rear end. And no I don't won or have any affiliation with a dealership. just like you - been thinking about it a long time. Pulled the trigger and really glad I did.
Northwoods retreatWe are looking to purchase a Palomino Bronco pop up truck camer for our 1/2 ton GMC truck. At 1450 lbs, not sure if this is too much weight. Any comment would be helpful.
Geoff HanesWe bought the Bronco in 2007. Great value and no problems so far. Takes only about 5 minutes to set it up and about the same to set it down. Nice layout, good use of the space and well thought out.
