| AJ | Finally given up on Hughesnet and Motosat | We have finally given up on Hughesnet and Motosat after a year of frustration. I hear all the folks who have had good luck with their systems and envy them. But we had nothing but bad experiences. Motosat eventually replaced the entire system from the dish down, but within two months the turning motor on the dish burned out. We have gone now to a system of broadband card, signal amplifier and wireless router which provides pretty fast service and works instantly and continuously on the road as well...although we recognize there will be spots we won't get any signal at all...in which case we'll be dead meat. BTW, we had, all in all, pretty good support from Motosat throughout this issue....and by others, including Bill Adams who is a gem to work with, from the technical forums on various sites. But we were out of service over 200 days in our first year and that doesn't make it. Bad luck? Probably. |
