Outback Loft toy hauler travel trailer by Keystone

Keystone says: "The Outback Loft looks like no other RV in the market. The second story extends up 6-feet, 3-inches above the roof line when you are camping and retracts into the attic when you are hitched up and on the road. This second story bonus room is ideal for viewing racing events or enjoying the scenery at your favorite camp site."
MSRPs start at around $37k but see dealer for pricing

The Loft is the first sport utility travel trailer to feature a bonus room that expands UP from the roof. With a touch of a button, you raise the roof on the second story and create a spacious living area with screened windows on all four sides, sofa sleeper, L-shaped lounge and entertainment center with LCD TV. The Loft upper level is easily accessed by an interior staircase (see floorplan below for the general layout and staircase position.) We show pictures below of the bonus room, the Outback stowed and ready to go, and the garage with the toys out and the queen sized bed folded down. RoTi thinks it's practical, useful and well thought-out.

Above: Outback Loft closed and ready to go.
Right: Large rear toy garage doubles as a master bedroom. Bed folds down from the rear wall. |

FLOORPLAN There is a large “garage” in the rear of the Outback Loft with a ramp door on the curb side. With toys out of the garage, the entire area turns into a large master bedroom with queen sized bed and LCD TV docking bracket. Forward of the garage/master bedroom you’ll find a full galley, huge dinette that seats six and sleeps two, sofa slide-out that converts into a full sized bed, and roomy bathroom with shower."

| Jeff n Tami | We bought a loft outback in the spring 09. What a wonderful summer we have had! We also have another camper but the loft is the ultimate. Even when extreme hot or cold happens, you just cozy up like the other single story campers. Suggestion a roll up exercise mat works as a good insulation barrier for those times you need to keep the loft down. |
| Dave S | We bought the loft back in Nov. 08. We bought it on impulse and due to the great price (marked down) We love the unit but I personaly think more time could have went into research and development. The loft is a pain in the A*? to latch and unlatch. Living in FL and dealing with hot temps, there is nothing like crawling on your belly in a small space to latch the back latches. Also no A/C in the loft? It's a seat box up there and in the summer we actually never pop the top. Also the canvas folding system is stupid. You have to keep making sure all the canvas is tucked in from the inside or else travel with a tall ladder to push it in from the outside. Great concept but needed a little more thought in my opinion. Could be why Keystone discontinued it for 2010 |
| Jim | My wife and I bought this trailer about 3 weeks ago. We just took it out for the first time last weekend. Talk about being the talk of the camp! We had people constantly stopping to ask us questions and we also gave a tour to 2 different park rangers! This was our first time out in a travel trailer...we have always tent camped....we love this trailer and can't wait to go out again. I don't have anything negative to say about this trailer.....it is just too cool! We had an additional air condition vent added to the loft....it can get pretty hot up there. We also used a squirrel cage fan at the top of the steps to help circulate the air up there and it stayed really cool. |
| T Simmons | I love this thing. We bought one. It is very well thought out and great for us since we have 4 kids. It came with two flat screen tvs.If you buy one,be prepared to answer a lot of questions!! |
| Sonja | Wow, I love things that are unusual. When I spotted the new Outback Loft I said to my husband that I have to have it. Now I need to find one and get the money. I am excited about this trailer. What a great idea. |
| rhandy | This is a great concept. I already use my roof area for event viewing, adding steps (instead of my ladder) and some shade is great. Airstream had a similar idea with the skydeck model. Personally I would like to have drop down steps (like attic steps) instead of permanent. The additional space could be used for something else, like a washer/dryer. |
