Excel says "The RT is designed for the Trekker crowd who tend to leave the beaten path.. The engineering emphasis is on designing a frame and suspension system that allow the RT to be pulled over rougher roads and into less civilized camping sites."

The RT comes in 4 lengths - 26, 28, 30 and 33 feet - with 12 different floorplans in total.
Excel says "The Excel RT stands head and shoulders above competing coaches in the same price range. The construction techniques and materials that go into the RT are of the same high quality as our Classic and Limited. The difference between the RT and its competitors is the structural engineering emphasis on rugged and value-priced features."
We show 2 pictures of the RT interiors below: Both of these show the interior of the 28 RWK but they give an impression of the quality and attention to detail that Excel have put into the RT:
FLOORPLANS We show 3 of the 12 2009 floorplans below. We show the 28RWK (28' long), which is the shortest model; the 28BHS, a mid-range model (30'5" long) and the longest model, the 36BHS (37'11" long). (To maximize the picture in the space available, these are not shown to the same scale of course.)

Finally, we show the 33RSO floorplan. The longest RT with 33 feet and a wonderfully laid-out interior. There is a king bed option with this layout.

RoTi thinks this is a superb fifth wheel. Another thing you might care to look at is the 2 year Excel warranty and the many standard an optional features available with the Excel RT..

| Curtis Galloway | Owned a Cougar before purchasing our 2005 Excel 36FLR. The floor plan, construction and durability is supperb. Have had the unit parked in the pines of northern Californa since purchased and it still looks a good as it did the day I bought it, inside and out, with very little maintenance. I would purchase another Excel or Peterson Industries product in a heart beat without reservation. |
| W. Wood | I spent the 07/08 winter in Wyoming in my 2004 Excel 33RSE with no problems except for frost around the window frames. The temps dropped to 15 degrees F. below zero with winds of 50 MPH+. Worst winter there in 25 years. Hard-piped and insulated the sewer, heat traced and insulated the water hose and skirted the bottom with styrofoam. I sold my Fleetwood Prowler to a co-worker who told me that it froze up solid. Enough said ! |
