| Re: Palomino Sabre fifth wheel | Del | Sorry, due to really really bad customer support, I can not and will not recommend any Sabre product. Due to a manufactor error (left paper on sealant tape) my walls started to delaminate. Made the arrangents of when I was going to drop it off at the dealer, so it could be picked up. Was told 3-4 weeks I would have it back. Week four, still had not been picked up for repairs, saw an e-mail where Gary stated it should be pick-up 28Oct (I dropped it off Oct 4th). After a week I saw it still on the lot. Dealer gave me Gary's phone number. After serveral calls to Gary and a ever changing story, my Sabre still sits at the dealers and it is 28Nov now. Last four message left with Gary have not been returned. Very bad customer support. A camping friend of mine (Kevin) also has a Sabre (not a 31reds) has sent his Sabre back three times. |

| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | Kevin S | Seriously considering the Bronco 1251 SB. I own a Dodge SLT 1500 Off Road Quad Cab. Is there any input on users mounting this unit on a Dodge similar to mine? |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | Joe | How is water kept out in a downpour, it looks like rain can enter or seep in the windows? All drawers should be opened during the viewing of the video. |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | 1251 Bronco Sept 09 | Heading out on year 2 with our camper - looking for a web site that shares stories - anyone know of truck camper sites or blogs? |
| Re: Palomino Bronco folding truck camper | Jorge | I've had 2 Palominos and they were both good. |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | 1251 Bronco Sept 09 | Steve - the door problem happens with the units that hang out past the bed - I try not to set up without having my rear jacks deployed with a tad lift. That brings the sides more square, and eliminates that bowing problem - i also started using my tailgate to with an 8 foot piece of plywood to help support it. Engineering of it requires some thinking of where to shim on either side to compensate for the bowing. Watch your clearance on the holding tank pipes when backing in, i use spacers in the front of the bed to meet the bumpers on the camper it's about a inch or so. |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | Steve P | We recently purchase a 2011 Bronco and we are very happy with the design and comfort. We are having a little trouble getting things to fit square. We have a sheet of plywood to the truck box to help with the level. We have tried leveling with the ground, and with the truck, but our back door comes apart when opened fully, and the bathroom door does not seem to fit properly.Any helpful hints or suggestion? |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | T-Mac | We bought a 2007 B1255 and we are very happy with it.
First I had it on a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 Ext Cab 4x4 and added air bags.
Now I have a 2010 Tundra, on which the box is deeper. This created a problem. Because of the deep box
I had to build a 2" false floor and set it in the truck box to raise the Bronco high enough for clearance. Not a big deal, but the gap between the top of the Tundra cab and the Bronco is greater than I'd like, as a result. (More wind drag). I put air bags on the Tundra, too.
I pull a 20" Lund boat behind, and thanks to the lower profile of the camper, it is a breeze. The camper is very functional, practical, and comfortable. |
| Re: Palomino Sabre fifth wheel | amxpress | I have a 2008 Sabre 31RKTS. It's been a great unit. Still solid, no leaks, tows great, excellent floor plan, and a well built trailer. One of the best urchase decisions I have made. Looked a many fivers before buying the Sabre, I feel it's the best value for the money. |
| Re: Palomino Sabre fifth wheel | Jeanne P | We have the 2008 Palomino Sabre 31BHDS with double slide and bunkhouse. Really good, no quality complaints, the whole family loves it. |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | roly and deborah | we got a 1251sb 2010 from michigan we are
canadian you see so when a deal comes along we go crazy and head south for the USA deals .So we made the deal and drove back to the great white north after camping for 5 days we are very please with the purchase and the lay out is very good, better then expected for the price Deb is very happy with the extra sink in the back for 2010 . We are looking forward for a trip in the spring to the grand canyon and to visit Her parents. We had on a memory 1 inch foam mattress to the original srping mattress it made a great difference on the confort zone .On the 2008 gmc 1500 with add on 2000 pd springs it ride very well with no rolling at all , unless you are willing to pay double for the fancy campers made by the competition the palomino is just what you need.... |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | Dave | I have the 2006 Bronco 1251SB on my Ford F250 Super Duty. It drives great with the camper on. I get about 17 mpg with my Diesel. |
| Re: Palomino Stampede ultra-lite travel trailer | RoseST | I bought the brand new Palomino Stampede S 17. Initially, one fold-out corner had to be sewn shut as it was never sealed. After 3 years of pampered and normal use, three of the four fold-out corners have come apart which caused serious leaks during heavy rainfall. The full 5-year warranty will not address repairs for this design flaw. Therefore, I am hesitant to recommend this trailer. Perhaps Palomino will find a way to improve their very vulnerable fold-out corners. |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | Jeff | Bought a used 2007 1250 Bronco last year and love it. I have it installed on 1/2 ton GMC with supersprings 3000lb and happy jac. Works well but it is very heavy for my half ton. I have gone also to a six ply but have not had the camper on since. Hope is that it gets rid of a little role. take it easy and all is fine. Great camper. |
| Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper | 1251SB Bronco Owner Sept 09 | This camper has a dry weight of 1450#, you should plan to increase the spring capacity with air or helpers by a 1000#. You add water and gear, it gets loaded fast. Plus your weight and that of others in your vehicle etc. etc. How do I know? Just bought one, installed on a GMC Sierra Denali, short bed which is rated 3/4 ton. Although it rides with remaining spring, it's got some sag. It will need some help, as GMC springs are softer then most trucks and that's what gives you the comfy ride. If you are installing a 1/2 ton, I recommend you configure your rear suspension with air or helper springs to increase capacity. You want it to ride level, for both handling, and the function of the camper frig and appliances when parked. On our way home over eight states - I met several folks contemplating a buy, but seemed a little hesitant. My guess was fear of the unknown. A little foresight, planning and knowing the limits of the truck mods - get it modified first you'll be working on how to use the camper and enjoy it. We learned a lot on the way home, it was fun, we drove a little slower and enjoyed the sites. Set up was easy, had to remember the little things but by the 3rd set up, I had it up in minutes, and down the same. I have some minor mods to make on my truck, and the Mrs. is dreaming up all kinds of ideas for the camper. Loves her potty and privacy it offers, the appliances and features really add to the experience, and after the mods on the truck, I am expecting an even better driving experience and many of great trips. By the way, the truck ran 16 MPG when empty, and now runs about 12MPG. Yours may very depending on the rear end ratio. My truck is a trailer puller with a 4.10 rear end. And no I don't won or have any affiliation with a dealership. just like you - been thinking about it a long time. Pulled the trigger and really glad I did. |
| Re: Palomino Stampede ultra-lite travel trailer | RossU | We have a 2002 Stampede 21SLD that we bought used last year. We've had a lot of fun with it for 2 summers with 3 kids and a dog and nothing much went wrong with it. Everyone loves it, great value for money. |
