Scamp 16' Travel Trailer
See reader's comments and experiences at bottom of page "Lightweight and easy to tow - a small trailer with a lot of options - easily set up with bathroom arrangements"
|

|
Important considerations:
Exterior length 16'0", Exterior width 6'8", Exterior height 7'10"
Interior height 6'3", Sleeps 1 to 4
Fiberglass construction, Approx. weight: 1750 lbs
MSRP from $10,995 plus options (3/09)
This is a small trailer with a lot of options. The Scamp 16' provides more counter and storage space than the 13' (see RoTi review here), and the 16' can be easily set up with two bathroom and shower options.
Scamp says "You decide what your camping and traveling needs are, then choose which options you want. There are many optional items to choose from including appliances, layouts, extra lights. Any of the sales staff can help you get your trailer with the items you need"
The picture below shows the rear table arrangement - this converts to a bed:
The picture below shows the available front bunk option (see the floorplans below). A side bathroom option allows the trailer to sleep four people, while a larger front bathroom option replaces the sofa/bunk bed:

Scamp says:
Durable, Lightweight Travel Trailers - Scamp trailers are built to order, lightweight and aerodynamic in design. We’ve been building small travel trailers since 1972 and many are still being enjoyed today. The lightweight, hard shell fiberglass travel trailer design is very durable and easy to tow and maneuver.
Towable by Small Cars - Our small campers are very economical; especially important with today’s high fuel costs. All three size Scamps have been designed to be towed by small cars, SUVs, mini vans, and trucks. The aerodynamic design assures high fuel efficiency and most people can tow the Scamp with a vehicle they already own. For sale and wanted - see forum below FLOORPLANS
(Layouts 1 and 2 are the 13' option)

Thanks! theduke2009 at hotmail.com |
| EZB | The Scamp 16' fits my needs for a camper trailer for its size and features. The only problem I have is to fit it into my home garage without making too much change to the garage door, which is less than 7' in height. Does anyone know if such a product exists? it could be a hi-lo with sofa/ bed bunks so to sleep four. I'll appreciate any comments and suggestions. |
| Fran L in NM | 6/22/09 Looking for a used Scamp 16 - prefer option with bunks and bath. Could pick up almost anywhere. Email me at flusso@wfubmc.edu

| Carole | I sold my Scamp in Florida through this excellent site, within a week of posting it. I don't know how to cancel the original posting. To all those who are still contacting me--yaddayachtie@aol.com--I wish you luck finding another Scamp; they're great little trailers. 6/09 |
| J. Campbell | We purchased a 1984 Scamp two years ago and we just love it. We pull it with our 4 cylinder Nissan pick-up truck without any problems. Our favorite destination is Devils Fork State Park and there are lots of hills and you sometimes forget the camper is back there until you come to a huge hill and even then, it's no problem. |
| S. Loving | I bought a used 13' Scamp 5+ yrs ago and love it!! It has everything you need. I towed it with my 99 Kia Sportage. Never had any problems. It sleeps 4 comfortably, I think. If you need a little more space than the 16' might be for you. The 16' just has a little more space than the 13' but, still just as cute. If you find one, grab it. They're hard to find and definitely worth every penny.
Good luck!! |
| 2muchfreetime | 1999 Scamp 16' Just bought a used (less than 20 times) Scamp 16. Took it camping the next day. More than ample room for the 3 of us. Interior is in great shape, everything worked well. You can tell alot of thought went into the design of this camper. And with gas prices I enjoyed pulling it with my S-10 pickup. Bought it off a guy who got it from a friend who never used it. Got tons of positive comments and folks wanted to know if we wanted to sell it. I would love to get my hands on a couple more for a rehab and resell. Based upon your experiences, would you buy one of this manufacturer's RVs again?: Yes. Rating: 5/5. |
| Byron | Purchased a Scamp about 2.5 years ago. I think this is one of the best purchases if not the best purchase I've ever made. Tows easily. Sets up in less than 10 minutes. More time for enjoying the outdoors. The furnace keeps us nice and warm in the winter. Plenty of ventilation in the summer.
It's been just GREAT. |
