I have a Gulfstream on a Spartan frame K2 side radiator on the diesel with a Casappa hydraulic fan motor that operates the power steering and cooling systems. Something happened to the system and the steering went out. Not a good feeling running 30mph into curve. still in the shop. This System should be checked out for failures and safty. Be Safe

I had a Newmar Motorhome that had a horizontally mounted steering damper with a self centering feature. The only problem was that whomever installed this at the factory didn't know where center was and clamped it off to the right. It took many man hours and front end alignments before I noticed this by crawling under and studying it myself.. I loosened the 2 clamp bolts and let it center itself then retightening the bolts. Problem solved, almost....the inner wheel bearing on the right front wheel also was installed backwards, which didn't help matters either.
I also wondered why there was one more complete turn of the steering wheel going left than right. The bar going from the gear box to the tie rods was not centered. Loosen the bolt and turn the wheel, tighten and now I can turn just as far right as I can left. Wow, unbelievable!
There were many other items that were not installed correctly. I cannot believe the poor workmanship by either Worhorse or Newmar. The quality control really stinks. Most work was done umder warantee but sure did scare me. What else was not done right? Manufactureres should be ashamed of themselves putting out such garbage and worst of all....charging such high prices.
If you have a Newmar, please go around and check the bolts for tightness on the chassis. What good is this new device if no one knows how to put it on? Big deal, If put together correctly in the first place maybe you wouldn't need this new, costly device.

If it’s a steer by wire system stay away from it for a while yet, remember anti-lock brake systems have been around a long time and it still has bugs in it.
Airplanes have been using fly by wire systems for years however they have 2 backup systems beside their regular main one. There are no back-ups in any vehicle system I know of.

IF RV manufacturers made the chassis & motorhome loading right in the first place this would not be needed. RV's need a truck steering system and never get it. The Rv Manufacturers are a disgrace to the engineering design..

I've driven a test drive with this on a Newmar and it was impressive. The self-centering aspect makes driving very easy it holds its position with very little of the corrections normally needed. I think it is to power steering what power steering was to a manual system. A great step forward. It makes parking much easier you just turn loose the wheel and it goes back to straight.

will it be available for testing at the Good Sam rally in Reedmond, Or in July 07?

I haven't seen one testimonial on it any where on the RV Forums so far. Usually any improvement worth mentioning is thoroughly discussed on the forums wonder why?

Doesn't say how it works, but I want it on my RV. Should be a standard feature, crosswinds and trucks going by are scary. Sounds like a good safety feature.

Anything that can compensate for crosswinds is fantastic. And if it helps parking, wow. Sounds to me that if it does what it says it is a really significant development.
