LOUISVILLE, Ky. December 13, 2009 - Perhaps the most remarkable thing about the Fleetwood and Monaco booths at the 47th annual National RV Trade Show was that both manufacturers even had displays. Just nine months earlier, the two companies had filed for bankruptcy and announced they were looking for buyers, but in Louisville, with booths positioned at opposite ends of the exhibition hall, they have new owners and a new inflow of capital.
Once towering giants, Fleetwood and Monaco may represent the boom, the bust and the uncertain recovery of the recreational vehicle industry.

The article goes on to say:
At the Louisville RV show at the beginning of December, Monaco's booth spanned a corner and was anchored by a hulking black Navistar truck at one end and the company's military transport vehicle at the other. In between there was a spread of motorhomes and towables.
Roy Wiley, spokesman for Navistar, called Monaco RV "a work in progress" but emphasized Navistar maintains a strong commitment to the RV maker.
By contrast, the Fleetwood booth was smaller and filled with only motorhomes. Pointing to a Class A in the center of the display, Fleetwood chief executive officer Chuck Wilkinson said the new coach, the Encounter, billed as a crossover that combines the best elements of Class A and Class C motorhomes, had been designed and built since American Industrial Partners took ownership.
"We think if we have the best product, the best work force and the best relationship with dealers," Wilkinson said, "the market share will come."

We didn't do a lot of shopping around but did do extensive Internet research. We purchased a 2011 Fleetwood Tioga 24 DSL. We love the rv but are disappointed in the quality - cheap hardware, wood trim covered in contact paper, and just sloppy workmanship. Our unit spent 5 weeks in the shop 100 miles away for a list of fixes that included window
Leaks, trim that feel off the slideout while driving down the road, exhaust bracket broken, diesel generator problem, both sinks leaked, etc. We got our rv back 3 days before a planned week long trip and half the things that were
supposed to be fixed weren't!! Our dealer is over 120 miles away!! We expected a few issues but nothing quite like this. In retrospect I think we would have done much more shopping around and manufacturer research! |
| Re: Fleetwood American Tradition luxury motorcoach | Bob Nebel | We also own a 2008 American Tradition with the full wall slide and rear bathroom. We love our coach. It has performed well with very few minor problems.These were taken care of by the American Coach Factory Service Team headed by Randy.I had my problems repaired at a FMCA National Convention and therefore didn't even have to add additional travel to our trip. Fleetwood and American Coach has always been known for there service and I can say they live up to their reputation.

| Re: Fleetwood Storm class A motorhome | Dave W | We purchased a 2011 Fleetwood Storm last October. It has been nothing but a nightmare. From generator failing (during hurricane Irene) to windshield moulding falling out, to fan to cool refrigerator improperly located etc etc. Our biggest complaint is the overhead bed in the front of the unit! When going down hill, braking etc it screaches and rattles to the point of being unable to carry on a conversation in the coach. Our dealer has tried numerous fixes as advised by Fleetwood. Some relief has been obtained, but the problem is still there. Personally I think it's a design flaw that needs to be remedied back at the drawing board. It has completely soured my wife and I on the whole motorhome experience. |

Once the locking mechanism didn't work. Next it wouldn't close all the way on the bottom. Now the locking mechanism isn't working again. Am have problems with the awning on the full slide will not stay tight. |

The trialer needs a few repairs but on the whole it still is as good as it gets. I'm trying to find out about replacing the Atwood 6gal hot water heater with a tankless model. Any suggestions? |

| Re: Fleetwood Terra LX class A motorhome | larry | Sorry I bought an entry-level MH. Bought new in 2008 but only used 5 times due to illness. Less than 2000 miles. Battery disconnect switches don't work, trimming inside is falling off, (the staples didn't hold), entry door keeps sticking and won't hold the screen door when opening, rubber gaskets around storage doors has fallen off and a couple storage doors won't stay open, rubber around some of the screen on windows have also came apart. Am now waiting for an appointment to get my air conditioners fixed. The dealer I bought it from no longer deals with Fleetwood and wants nothing to do with it. |

We have enjoyed it very much, except the dealer lied to us and told us it had a 60 gallon water tank, when in reality it is only 35 gal. It appears this is the only model with a 35 gal tank and others have the 60 gal. We do a lot of dry camping, therefore are wondering if anyone has been able to add an additional tank to this model to expand it's capacity, and how we might do that. |

| Re: Fleetwood Tioga motorhome | Francis 450 | I know that the major RV manufacturers are constantly trying to cut back on costs but in many ways RVs are getting better all the time. This Fleetwood is a case in point. I had a 2003 Tioga but it wasn't as nice as these floorplans. |
| Re: Fleetwood Icon class C motorhome | Linda Bravo | I just traded in my 2005 Holiday Rambler for a 2010 Fleetwood Icon. I am thrilled with my decision and so far I love it. I thought I would have problems with so much smaller space and storage but find it to be perfect for two with two little dogs. I did invest in a new deck with navigation, blue tooth and awesome speakers because for my listening pleasure the stock unit was not adequate. I added a small satellites dish, some shelving under the sinks and lots of light weight collapsible kitchen items. Changed out the sewer attachment and brought it closer to the side of the rig. Now it is perfect and I am leaving in a few weeks for my first trip. |

| Re: 2010 Fleetwood Quest class C motorhome | Becca | After much research, we bought the Quest 24L without the cabover bunk and we love it! It's easy to drive and park, and the mileage is not much less than a full size pick up truck. There's plenty of room inside for two adults and a large dog to fit comfortably. I like to cook and for a small rv, it's nice to have three burners on the stove, and the half time oven is a plus.
We can't go anywhere without someone telling us they wish they could trade in their large rv for one as well appointed and fuel minded as our Quest.
Fleetwood did a nice job with the mini-classC Quest. |
| Re: 2010 Fleetwood Quest class C motorhome | Dave | I bought the 2010 Quest cabover. Love it but didn't think about two old people climbing up and down ladder. We added two 4" foam pads which we carry on bed but move to the two opposing coaches to sleep. Very comfortable. Nice to be able to park about anywhere with this unit. No complaints yet. - 1/19/2011 |
| Re: Fleetwood Discovery | Time Traveler | Bought a 2003 discovery 39L with 4 slides. We have put 4,000 miles on her and no major issues. If you own one keep a pair of engine relays, as when they trip, you have no engine or power for jacks or slides. It is an easy fix. Power Gear slides are easy to operate manually and can be jumped with a 12 volt jump box if needed. We have spent 2 weeks on the coach with one week dry camping. No problems. |
| Re: Fleetwood Icon class C motorhome | Ron | I have driven my 2010 Icon 10k from Tucson to Utah, Wy, So Dak Colorado and NM without any problems. I climbed several 7 & 8% grades, pulling an inclosed motorcycle trailer with my Harley. We were in it for a full 3 months and the fresh water tank should be larger as well as the real bed. I have the unit with the entertainment center above the cab. My wife and I are both very satisfied with our unit other than what I just mentioned. On a decent day at 62 MPH we get 16 miles to a gallon. |
