Marion, Indiana (February 16th, 2010) --After a competitive search of the Midwest, Earthbound Recreational Vehicles,LLC is pleased to announce today it is choosing Marion, Indiana as its new home. The office of Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold, the Marion City Council, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, and Northeast Indiana Work One’s have worked hard to put together a performance-based three million dollar incentive package to win the expansion of Earthbound RV’s operations to Marion, IN, which will begin immediately.
|
“The confidence and embrace from the city of Marion for our technologically advanced product line and future endeavors has been unparalleled. We will begin production during the month of March and
increase production as quality standards allow. Our resolve to be unequaled in quality and value is absolute.” Said C. David Hoefer, Earthbound RV Co-founder, Chairman, and CEO.
Earthbound chose the City of Marion in part because the City has assisted in securing over 2 million dollars in investment capital, and the State of Indiana has committed an additional million dollars in training grants for employees and corporate tax credits. Further, having three Indiana Wesleyan University graduates in the company (two of C. David Hoefers’ Sons and Earthbound COO, Bill Hughes) also played a significant part.
Earthbound RV brings to Marion, an innovative much-needed change for the RV industry and expects to add 60 jobs in 2010 and employ approximately 300 people in Marion/Grant County at an hourly rate above $18 per hour by the end of 2013. “Marion and Grant County have a wealth of highly skilled individuals necessary to carry out the quality and value goals already visible in the Earthbound product, we are thrilled to have won their business” explains Marion Mayor, Wayne Seybold.

Seybold continues “This company will add to the diversity and growth that we have seen in our manufacturing sector and we are thrilled to grow jobs in our community by 300. It was great teamwork to get these jobs to Marion, but it is just as important that we did not loose them to another State. Governor Daniels and Lt. Governor Skillman were aware and supportive of the project, and the IEDC came through with impressive incentives. It was close but we got the job done and I hope we have some more to announce in the very near future.”
“As expected, the RV industry is reinventing itself and starting to bounce back,” said Governor Mitch Daniels. “We couldn’t be happier to see the revolution happen here in Indiana, a state known for high quality production and skilled workers.”
Bill Hughes, Earthbound COO adds, “The Earthbound line of recreational vehicles is eco-friendly and lightweight. This RV has the potential to add 11 million new customers to the tow-able RV buying market. Many of our family-friendly units are towable with standard crossovers and small SUVs that are already parked in many of today’s family driveways.” The Earthbound product utilizes hi-tech composites, lightweight metals, and technologies from the marine and automotive industries that eliminate the need for wood or wood by-products, which can deteriorate and release offgassing of harmful VOC’s. Many of the new composite materials used in the Earthbound product will not rot and are formaldehyde free. Because of advancements in technology and materials incorporated for the first time in the RV industry, the company offers an unprecedented 3-year bumper-to hitch warranty. Most RV warranties are for one year or less.

| SOME OF THE LATEST COMMENTS ABOUT EARTHBOUND RVs |
| Re: Earthbound travel trailer | Shirley | I like the look and feel of the RV, but I now pull a 21 ft., 1998 Nash fifth wheel and love it! It fits 2 people and a dog. If you made a small 5th wheel - we would DEFINITELY be interested in your product -- Thanks for trying to make an environmentally friendly RV. |
| Re: Earthbound travel trailer | Garham | It's about time. I'm in the market for the first time and I all I see is overweight junk with Cougars airbrushed on the side of it. Ok, slight exaggeration, but you have to admit, the RV industry is not innovating very fast. This is a nice addition. I hope they make something just a little bit smaller. |
| Re: Earthbound travel trailer | Fuzzy9 | Earthbound appears to be filling a giant gap in the towable market -- one of quality. Although the "green" factors are nice angle, I don't think that's their biggest selling point. (Those who want to camp "green" buy a tent.) Most travel trailer buyers today are stuck choosing from a huge variety of mediocre-quality towables that end up being amazingly similar in both look and price, because manufacturers think it's only about offering a low pricepoint -- hence the silly industry practice of offering equipment as "optional" that should be "standard" on most trailers. It's not just about price. Earthbound appears to have cut few corners here, has boldly introduced an entirely new head-turning appearance that will be the talk of every campground, and will surely be priced accordingly. (My guess is somewhere in the current abyss between the Airstream brand and everything else out there.) I, like many others, am willing to pay for quality. Earthbound will likely be my next trailer purchase when I finally give up on constantly repairing my present 2004 travel trailer due to its poor build quality and cheap materials -- likely by next year. |
| Re: Earthbound travel trailer | akasurf | I just love this Earthbound Trailer! It is about time that someone built an RV like they build boats and aircraft interiors! Most RV have become works of junk, rather than works of art. I think Earthbound as hit the nail on the head with this one! |
| Re: Earthbound travel trailer | Carrie | I like the idea of an RV that's looked at environmental factors. My concern is the formaldehyde and chemical odors in RV's. Everybody knows they make people sick and we've known for a long time that there are materials that can be substituted, but maybe they cost more. It looks as if manufacturers are starting to take notice. |
