Despite competing with another RV show
in DeLand, organizers said last
week's Jacksonville RV SuperShow was one
of the most successful in the show's 25
years.
Alan Dulberger, regional president of
the Florida RV Trade Association and
general sales manager of Camping World
RV Sales in St. Augustine, said
Wednesday that attendance dropped by
about 300 to 400 people. He also said
that organizers of the DeLand show
reported reduced attendance.
"I was told every dealer did as good or
better than last year," Dulberger said,
adding that Camping World had
its best show ever in sales.
"This really was a very positive show,"
Dulberger said.
Another participating dealership agreed.
"I don't think it could have gone any
better," said Steve Fogle, general sales
manager of General RV Center on Wells
Road in Orange Park.
Fogle said the dealership, now in its
second year of operation, topped last
year's show sales with a reported 80
units sold.

Even with the slightly lower
turnout, the show remains one of the
largest in Florida. Dulberger credits
much of the SuperShow's success to the
facilities at the Jacksonville
Equestrian Center.
Having the show at a permanent structure
allows for a much simpler show to run
and makes it friendlier to show-goers,
compared to the parking lots at EverBank
Field, where the show was held until
last year, or other impermanent
locations used by other RV shows.
The Jacksonville SuperShow annually
displays more than 350 RVs or various
sorts, from pop-up trailers to massive
diesel RVs.
"I expect it to be even bigger
next year," Fogle said, expressing hope
in a recovering economy.
Fogle also said he continues to see RV
sales pick up. General RV has even seen
fit to begin a massive expansion of
their dealership in response to growing
sales.

| Re: Jayco Melbourne class C motorhome | MarkintheGardens | We have owned a 2010 Melbourne 29D for a little over a year.
First, to jaybird, I think the 38'-8" is a typo. Our 29D is their largest model and I'm pretty sure it's about 31'-8". As far as handling, I think it handles very well. This is our first motorhome as owners, although we have rented a few times. It does react to cross winds and passing semis (don't they all?) We tow a Jeep Wrangler and even with our inexperience we have done well.
As far as the actual coach, we bought this one from a local dealership that had it listed on consignment with 8,300 mi. We really liked the layout. Three slides makes it appear much more roomy. It's been perfect for the two of us and our two puppies.
However, it seems that we have had more than our share of trouble (AC fan went out, Water heater died). Some of it has been covered by the maker of each component, others have been under our after-market extended warranty.
Forget getting ANY help from JAYCO as a second owner. After several months, we noticed the floor in the galley felt "soft". It was discovered that the water system control valve connections were dripping. Apparently they had been dripping for a really long time and probably had not been properly tightened at the factory. JAYCO refused to do anything about the repair. With that kind of QC and zero support, I would not recommend them. |
