Arizona turns 100 years old February 14, 2012, but the Centennial celebration is already underway. Join Arizona’s birthday party with these events that highlight all that makes the country’s 48th state so grand.

Arizona Centennial Copper Chopper Tour
Through February 12, 2012. Paul Yaffe designed the shiny copper-colored, 100-horsepower motorcycle that’s touring the state with an “Arizona: The Open Road” exhibit. A ticket draw will determine the winner of the custom bike, which is equipped with parts and artistic embellishments forged from Arizona copper.

The Centennial Taste of Arizona

Arizona Centennial Best Fest
Sept. 16–18 & October 2011 & Feb. 10–12, 2012. Arizona shows off in this festival series, which features hometown national entertainers, cultural heritage villages, arts & crafts and industry exhibits in a carnival atmosphere.

Each city that once was an Arizona capital will host its customized version of the festival, beginning with Prescott, followed by Tucson and ending in Phoenix.

Arizona Centennial Union Pacific Steam Engine Tour
October 2011. Legendary steam locomotive No. 844 will wind through Southern Arizona, Phoenix and Yuma as a tribute to the state’s railroad history and heritage. See the train at any one of its whistle stops along the route.

Expo 2012
February 15–December 15, 2012. See the vision of Arizona’s next 100 years at technology, architecture and environment pavilions, plus enjoy entertainment, rides and food. Sponsored by the Solanna Pima Group, this impressive World’s Fair-style exhibit will rise on the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.

The Big Party

Help ring in Arizona’s big anniversary in style. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will perform February 10 and 11, 2012, and the Best Fest gets underway in Phoenix February 10–12, launching five days of galas, parties and ceremonies.

Enjoy the thrilling rumble as a mass of motorcycles rolls into the state’s capital city of Phoenix on February 11.

On Statehood Day, February 14, bells will peal at 2:14 p.m. and parties will break out throughout Arizona. In Phoenix, activities will mark the honorary renaming of Washington Street to Centennial Way.

Re: FulltimingSimonne Looking for male companion who has a motor home and is looking for a travel partner. I use to own a 35 ft Winnebago but sold it after my husband past away. I loved traveling with a motor home and miss it. I am 69, good looking, 5'7" tall 150 lbs. I am very active and healthy and take care of myself. I can help with expenses, cooking, and cleaning. I am very particular and neat and would like the same. I do not like slobs (sorry). My goal was to see the capital of all the states. On the way we would stop and see museum, flea markets, antiques shops. Go to the movies or theaters here and there. Staying in campgrouds for short times and enjoying playing cards and games with others there. I am open to try new things and adventurers. But motorcycle and snow mobile is not for me. Looking for a good gentlemen, caring, thoughtful man that is easy to get along with as I can be. I do not smoke, do drugs or drink. And I do not want someone who does (a social drink on occasion is OK) If interested send me an e-mail with your picture and info about yourself at(sim2travel@yahoo.com) And please no scam and be honest. At my age I don't have time for foolish stuff. I am retired and just want to enjoy what time we have left.

Re: Jayco Melbourne class C motorhomeMarkintheGardensWe have owned a 2010 Melbourne 29D for a little over a year. First, to jaybird, I think the 38'-8" is a typo. Our 29D is their largest model and I'm pretty sure it's about 31'-8". As far as handling, I think it handles very well. This is our first motorhome as owners, although we have rented a few times. It does react to cross winds and passing semis (don't they all?) We tow a Jeep Wrangler and even with our inexperience we have done well. As far as the actual coach, we bought this one from a local dealership that had it listed on consignment with 8,300 mi. We really liked the layout. Three slides makes it appear much more roomy. It's been perfect for the two of us and our two puppies. However, it seems that we have had more than our share of trouble (AC fan went out, Water heater died). Some of it has been covered by the maker of each component, others have been under our after-market extended warranty. Forget getting ANY help from JAYCO as a second owner. After several months, we noticed the floor in the galley felt "soft". It was discovered that the water system control valve connections were dripping. Apparently they had been dripping for a really long time and probably had not been properly tightened at the factory. JAYCO refused to do anything about the repair. With that kind of QC and zero support, I would not recommend them.
