DP Ball Advertising Press Announcement October 11th, 2010:

Despite a rainy start, the NJ Fall RV Expo reports that dealers were happy with their self-promoted event the first weekend in October. "Friday's weather was challenging, with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour and pouring rain," states Walter Hynes NJRVDA President. "Only serious RV buyers came out and took advantage of some very aggressive pricing."

Saturday's sun brought out a very nice crowd and dealers were busy selling a wide array of models, led by motorized units. Diesel pushers, and class B's were hot sellers. Fifth wheel results followed suit while travel trailer results were moderate.

The Snow Birds and over-50s were purchasing. "Many had visited the Hershey RV show two weeks earlier to survey their desired models," adds Hynes. "We must credit our contracted advertising agency for stretching our budget with some very effective ads.

Dan Ball of D.P. Ball Advertising was responsible for consulting and handling the advertising. Having specialized in RV Dealer advertising, Dan knew exactly what media to use and worked very hard to obtain real value from the various media."

In spite of this being the first show in years promoted and sponsored solely by the dealer association, the experience was rewarding. Dina Hurley, owner of Crossroads RV Center reported sales and anticipates more to follow as a result of this event. "At only five bucks per carload, many RVers packed those trucks and SUVs to save a buck. We can say that despite Friday's weather, we had about 7,000 people come out to wheel and deal on over 250 models on display."

"We delivered on our promise of displaying more new RVs than any show in New Jersey, and plan on expanding the event in the future," adds Tim Waters, owner of Hitch RV.

"With most of the manufacturers hosting their own dealer open house events just days before the NJ Fall RV Expo, buyers will continue to be able to enjoy some great deals made by our dealer body," concludes Hynes.

Re: FulltimingSimonne Looking for male companion who has a motor home and is looking for a travel partner. I use to own a 35 ft Winnebago but sold it after my husband past away. I loved traveling with a motor home and miss it. I am 69, good looking, 5'7" tall 150 lbs. I am very active and healthy and take care of myself. I can help with expenses, cooking, and cleaning. I am very particular and neat and would like the same. I do not like slobs (sorry). My goal was to see the capital of all the states. On the way we would stop and see museum, flea markets, antiques shops. Go to the movies or theaters here and there. Staying in campgrouds for short times and enjoying playing cards and games with others there. I am open to try new things and adventurers. But motorcycle and snow mobile is not for me. Looking for a good gentlemen, caring, thoughtful man that is easy to get along with as I can be. I do not smoke, do drugs or drink. And I do not want someone who does (a social drink on occasion is OK) If interested send me an e-mail with your picture and info about yourself at(sim2travel@yahoo.com) And please no scam and be honest. At my age I don't have time for foolish stuff. I am retired and just want to enjoy what time we have left.

Re: Jayco Melbourne class C motorhomeMarkintheGardensWe have owned a 2010 Melbourne 29D for a little over a year. First, to jaybird, I think the 38'-8" is a typo. Our 29D is their largest model and I'm pretty sure it's about 31'-8". As far as handling, I think it handles very well. This is our first motorhome as owners, although we have rented a few times. It does react to cross winds and passing semis (don't they all?) We tow a Jeep Wrangler and even with our inexperience we have done well. As far as the actual coach, we bought this one from a local dealership that had it listed on consignment with 8,300 mi. We really liked the layout. Three slides makes it appear much more roomy. It's been perfect for the two of us and our two puppies. However, it seems that we have had more than our share of trouble (AC fan went out, Water heater died). Some of it has been covered by the maker of each component, others have been under our after-market extended warranty. Forget getting ANY help from JAYCO as a second owner. After several months, we noticed the floor in the galley felt "soft". It was discovered that the water system control valve connections were dripping. Apparently they had been dripping for a really long time and probably had not been properly tightened at the factory. JAYCO refused to do anything about the repair. With that kind of QC and zero support, I would not recommend them.
