EarthRoamer XV-LT four wheel drive camper RV - production resumed - press release

Earthoamer press release 3/19/2010 -  Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC (operating under the tradename EarthRoamer) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009 and has resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

Bill Swails – designer of EarthRoamer XV-LT and XV-JP Xpedition Vehicles – has teamed with former key managers to start a new company and re-launch the EarthRoamer brand. The new company (Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2009. The original EarthRoamer XV-LT molds and “EarthRoamer” trademark were among the assets purchased by the new venture, and the company will be operating under the trade name “EarthRoamer.” The new company recently resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

When launched in 2002, the four wheel drive, turbo-diesel, Ford F-550 based EarthRoamer XV-LT revolutionized the expedition vehicle marketplace with its innovative design, quality construction and “go anywhere” capability.

The XV-LT is capable of running entirely on renewable biodiesel and solar energy. In a marketplace where traditional RVs continue to rely on noisy generators for electrical power, the EarthRoamer XV-LT utilizes a .5 KW solar panel array and a 6.1 KW/h AGM battery bank. Biodiesel compatible air heaters, water heaters and stoves replace the propane appliances found on traditional RVs. EarthRoamer XV-LTs are designed to tackle any terrain with features like four-wheel drive, aggressive military tires, front and rear heavy duty bumpers with winches, and high intensity discharge (HID) lighting.

2007 marked the launch of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited based EarthRoamer XV-JP. The XV-JP quickly established itself as the most capable four wheel drive camper in production by being the first self-contained camper to complete the notoriously challenging Rubicon trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The EarthRoamer XV-JP with its revolutionary LoftTop™ design was later recognized by the Boulder County Business Report when it received their IQ award for innovation.

EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles have confidently carried their owners millions of miles ranging as far north as the shores of the Arctic Ocean and as far south to the Panama Canal. Expeditions to South America and Africa are in the planning stages. One intrepid EarthRoamer owner and his wife spent almost three years driving completely around the world in their EarthRoamer XV-LT.

Demand for the revolutionary camper design was strong and over 100 EarthRoamer XV-LTs were sold between 2002 and 2008 at an average retail price of almost a quarter million dollars each. The company’s rapid growth was recognized in 2008 by Inc. Magazine when it reported EarthRoamer as the 597th fastest growing private company in the U.S. Inc. Magazine also identified EarthRoamer as the 8th fastest growing private transportation company in the US and the 9th fastest growing private company in the Denver metro area. With growth limited by production capacity, in mid 2005 EarthRoamer.com LLC purchased 3.5 acres in Lafayette, Colorado and began design of a new corporate headquarters and production facility.

Following record sales the 4th quarter of 2007, EarthRoamer.com LLC moved into a new 56,000 square foot corporate headquarters in February of 2008 – just as diesel fuel prices began to climb to over $4.50 per gallon and the stock market began a precipitous decent. High fuel prices and a faltering economy caused a rapid drop in new vehicle sales and by midsummer 2008 the company had laid off half of its workforce. By the end of 2008, the company was unable to service the debt on the new corporate headquarters and had ceased operations. Subsequently, EarthRoamer.com LLC was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Recognizing the need to service and support existing EarthRoamer vehicle owners and an opportunity to revive the EarthRoamer brand, Bill Swails joined forces with former production manager Eric Rexroth, and former service managers Tyler Tatro and Mike Funari to form Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC. The new company – operating under the trade name EarthRoamer – recently signed a long term lease for production space and corporate offices just north of Denver at Long’s Peak Business Center in Dacono, Colorado. Currently the company is manufacturing EarthRoamer XV-LTs in temporary leased space until the new space is ready for occupancy.

Bill Swails and his team will be taking the EarthRoamer brand in new and exciting directions with designs for both larger and smaller sized expedition vehicle models already on the drawing boards. The team also plans to offer its expertise in expedition vehicle design and construction to provide design/build services for individuals with unique requirements. “If you can dream it, we can build it” says Bill Swails, president and CEO of EarthRoamer. In addition, the team is actively working on implementing new technologies like fuel cells, external combustion generators, lithium ion battery packs and parallel hydraulic hybrid drive systems. According to Bill Swails, “By aggressively embracing new and exciting technological advances and emphasizing world class design, EarthRoamer will continue to be the recognized leader in designing and building the most comfortable, capable and environmentally responsible expedition vehicles in the world.”

FlugelbonemanWe have had a 2010 Rockwood 2304s since new. It is the best trailer I have owned and it is #12. Tows better, floor plan exceptional, workmanship and finish average. I am astounded at the comments on this website compared to my experience and others with similar FR products.Re: Forest River Rockwood ultra lite travel trailer
RandyOur 2012 Montana 3402 RL living room slide leaks water all over the dining room table and couch when it rains. The seals look like they are installed correctly. I even washed it down with a water hose, trying to find the leak and no water came inside the coach. Next time it rained with the slide out, the dining room was soaked and the lamps had water leaking onto the dining room table! What's up with that? I've been all over that slide looking for something that's causing the water to come inside of the slide and I can't find a thing! By the way, I have Diamond 5 year extended warranty on the coach and they won't cover the seals leaking or the damage to the trailer. They say it's Montana's problem, but Montana says the coach is out of warranty, so have a nice day. I am so frustrated with this problem. I previously owned a Holiday Rambler 30 foot tow behind and never had any problems with it in 12 years. I wish they come back into business. I'd dump the Montana in a second! JohnI'm brand new to owning a camper. I bought a new bronco camper in 2013 but ended not using it at all until 2 weeks ago for one weekend so stupid me I'm out of warrenty. After using it for one day I took it in because the refridg didn't work on gas. It cost me $358.00 to find out that too much insulation was stuck in and in the wrong places around the refer. The insulation was also stuck into the fan so that it couldn't work. The repair guys said I was very lucky the whole thing didn't catch fire. Along with that lots of little things that show lousy workmanship and apparently no quaility control. Things like trim not screwed on, slid latch for panel over door fastened so far over it didn't even reach the panel, edging around counters that wouldn't stay attached, fill hose to water tank that wasn't pushed on all the way and was leaking, floor bubling up in front of the door, some of the screws holding the roof latches rusting out. Remember this was all on a brand new rig that had been used once over night. Before you buy one of these campers I suggest you look over every little thing on the inside and out. Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper
JulieI have owner this camper since 2008 and have never regretted this purchase! I am a teacher so I have summers free. I wanted to keep my 2 boys busy and away from the TV and video games all summer so we camped as much as possible. They were 9 and 11 when we started spending summers in this camper and we would stay out for at least 5 of my 8 weeks off. With all of their running in and out and a 100lb. dog that camped with us the camper is still in Greta shape. I have never had a problem or had to replace anything other than the water heater coil which is going to happen with that kind of use and hard water. That's it nothing else. My brother owned a flagstaff of similar style and always commented how much better mine was constructed. If/when I upgrade I will go straight for a Forrest river brand! Happy vamping!Re: Forest River Shamrock expandable travel trailer

donovanRob, you need to check out the Forest Rivers owners group aka f.r.o.g. they meet each year in Goshen indiana, anyone that owns a forest river trailer can join and the reason why I am saying this is they has a service center there that beats any dealer out there, how would you like to get most of the repair work you need done for FREE you you all heard me right, that issue you are having rob, more and likely they will fix it for free, everyone go join the forum at Forestriverforums.com the rally was for like ten days and I sent the brand new 2015 trailers and motorhomes before the dealers even seen them, took a tour of the factory where they are built and attended seminars about different products and how they help you better understand the camping worldRe: Forest River Rockwood Roo expandable travel trailer

BKMy husband and I bought a 2014 Keystone Passport on 6-10-14 from Happy Trails RV in Lumberton , Texas. We took our first trip in it on 6-12-14 to New Mexico. On 6-20-14 we put our power Solera awning out, this was the third or fourth time to do so - it would not retract back in. We had to google how to see how to manually retract it. Thank goodness we were at an RV park that we got phone service. It was not simple or easy for 4 people in our mid 60's to put manually retract it with a power drill and ladder , that thank goodness the RV park let us use ! We had to bungee cord it for our trip back to Texas. This ruined an other wise great trip. Re-thinking traveling with a travel trailer for our retirement years. I will not ever buy another Keystone , solera awning or from Happy Trails RV in Lumberton , Texas. By the way, we brought Happy Trails our travel trailer on 6-30-14 with the problem awning. Finally went to pick it up 7-28-14, tried the awning before we left --they were already hooking the trailer up to the truck and I decided to try the awning, the service guy said -"oh, it works , I tried it 3 times." Told him I wanted to try it before bringing it home. It went out and WOULD NOT retract back in !!! Did the same thing it did on our trip. We told them to unhook the trailer and keep it till fixed. As of today 8-15-14 , after many calls to Keystone and Happy Trails RV, we still don't have our travel trailer. Fixing to go get it and see what we can do legally. Sad it has to come to this, it they would just take care of their customers. This is one former customer. Very disappointed in these companies customer service. Re: Keystone Passport travel trailer

chuckPOS!!!! 4k miles and the front springs and front and rear shocks all bad! Front was sitting on the rubber bump stops at 4000 miles! Had them all replaced on my money! Wonders all over the road. Still pulls to the left and Chevy place cant fix it. Bathroom door broke and LP gas valve leaked all my propane out on the drive home just off the show room floor, front of the fridge came off a few days later. The van is rated at GVW 9500 lbs. With no people it is 9100lbs. Factory tires are rated at 1300lbs each. Too light duty maybe...Don't know how to get it fixed..... want to sell it. Runs good and well equipped. But running down the interstate at 70 it goes from one side of the road to the other. Hard to drive. NEVER AGAIN will I buy one! Chevy says Road-trek put too much weight on it and Road-trek says Chevy's chassis is too light. Neither will fix it. now I have a $100,000.00 in a van that is not safe to drive over 40 mph. Re: Roadtrek 210 class B motorhome
D.PlaceI bought a 2012 Heartland Big Country new. I am so glad I purchased the extended warranty. My local rv repair shop basically gutted all the inferior flex line fittings and tubing and dock fittings due to leak after leak.5 thousand dollars worth over 3 repair trips. Then the lippert frame started flexing in the front nose creating gaps in the side trim while resting on the hitch.I sent pictures to heartland and they told me it must come back to the factory for repair.Because this happened in the 18th month it was outside their warranty period of 1 year. They offered to correct the problem no charge but i had to drive on my dime to Indiana from Seattle.I did it .Re:Heartland Bighorn 5th wheel
Kevin DThe Skyline Koala is the worst camper that I have ever owned! We had sooooooo many problems with the camper that SKYLINE took the camper back to their manufacturing facility to re do all the plumbing and electrical, we were assured by the factory representative that the camper was totally rebuilt and 100% correct, they delivered it back to the dealership that we bought it from and we picked it back up and brought it home and hooked the water up and water started shooting out of the unit. There were so many problems associated with this camper that we sold it back to SKYLINE and decided to never camp again! Thanks SKYLINE for ruining our camping outlook!Re:Skyline Koala travel trailer

Gary TerryWe have the 2014 Bounder classic and love most of it! However, we are very dissatisfied that the back AC drains onto the Drivers side slide and I'm talking gallons of water, I have to spend an hour tilting the home to remove most of it, the remainder we have to put towels on top of the slide as we pull it in. Huge pain, got to be a solution. Dealer/Service Center tells us everyone has that problem, we haven't found anyone else who does!Re: Fleetwood Bounder Classic class A motorhome
SteppenoutWe have owned two trailers from Forest River. We bought both of them brand new. We keep them on a permanent site and we don't have kids or pets. The first trailer was a 2007 396FLFB. We bought it because of the beautiful layout. We ordered every option available. The longer we had it the more we found wrong with it. The trailer needed constant repair just to keep the doors working. The slides quit working in the second year. The ceiling in the bathroom rotted out in the fifth year and so it went. I don't know how anyone takes one on the highway. The workmanship was so shoddy I am surprised they put their name on it. When we went to buy the second one we still couldn't find a layout as nice as what Forest River does. So we took another chance. This time we bought a 2014 40' Grand Lodge. Well, Forest River lived up to their reputation. This one is even worse than the first one. Since 2007 they have made everything even cheaper. Even the hide-bed couch doesn't work. The stereo is wired wrong. The vent fan didn't work. Now it looks like we might have a broken header over the slideout. Warranty, if you can get it at all, takes forever. Forest River makes bottom level products. Do a little research. Make a list of the prices on different RVs from the best quality to the lowest quality and see where Forest River fits in. You get what you pay for. Especially in Boats and RVs.Re: Forest River Wildwood travel trailer

LeahMy husband and I purchased a 2015 Grey Wolf 26RL RV a few weeks ago. We immediately had to leave for a job in Illinois. We are from Louisiana, but our RV in Texas. Although we have a dealer in our town they didn't seem interested in our business thus the purchase in Texas. I noticed a few days ago some severe rust on gas line to RVQ hookup and along the I-beam support of the trailer and one of the brackets. I am sickened by this. What should we do??Re: Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf travel trailer
chuckRockwood 2604. Bought new had nothing but trouble. Slideout wouldn't work on vacation then floor started squeking. Dealer wouldn't fix and Rockwood said haul it to Indiana and we would look at it. Tore wall out fixed it myself. Junk, junk, junk. Sold it at a loss. Stay clear of this unit.Re: Forest River Rockwood ultra lite travel trailer
MaggieWe had a 2014 Windgammer 3008W that started swaying the minute we got on I90. We had Reese sway bars on the TT. 5 hours on I90 a big truck went by and the Wingammer started swaying. It took us off the interstate and it flipped over and came off the hitch. TT totaled and truck had $7000 worth of damage to the back. V nose is not aerodynamic , a shape like a airplane is. Beware V nose sway more than a normal TT. We bought a Open Range Light fifth wheel,no more V nose for us.Re: Forest River V-Cross travel trailer

TrikerQuestions to ask: On the 2011 models, the ramp is foam board and wood covered with aluminum and does rot. There is no battery disconnect. The outdoor speakers are connected to the inside speakers and can't be separated. How dumb is that? Have they fixed these flaws?Re: The 2014 Livin Lite Quicksilver VRV 28FBD Toy Hauler RV Review
Floradidn't mean I don't like my camper. Lovely space and storage. The dealer is awesome. I guess it is standard the antenna and if needed, I can get an antenna that is stronger. It is standard so is what it is. Grey wolf is a great camper all in all. Re: Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf travel trailer

Flora JakubekI purchased a 2015 Grey Wolf and was told the antenna options are great, no cranking, good reception in three areas to put tv. Well, not one unscrambled station comes in 15 miles from our home are three stations. Manufactureer was cold and they said it should go 20 miles. should but won't My neighbors has rabbit ears that I attached to the tv. I got 5 stations with that. The dealer is great, but said he can't do anything unless Forest River will. Very disappointed. Re: Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf travel trailer
