EarthRoamer XV-LT four wheel drive camper RV - production resumed - press release

Earthoamer press release 3/19/2010 -  Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC (operating under the tradename EarthRoamer) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009 and has resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

Bill Swails – designer of EarthRoamer XV-LT and XV-JP Xpedition Vehicles – has teamed with former key managers to start a new company and re-launch the EarthRoamer brand. The new company (Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2009. The original EarthRoamer XV-LT molds and “EarthRoamer” trademark were among the assets purchased by the new venture, and the company will be operating under the trade name “EarthRoamer.” The new company recently resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

When launched in 2002, the four wheel drive, turbo-diesel, Ford F-550 based EarthRoamer XV-LT revolutionized the expedition vehicle marketplace with its innovative design, quality construction and “go anywhere” capability.

The XV-LT is capable of running entirely on renewable biodiesel and solar energy. In a marketplace where traditional RVs continue to rely on noisy generators for electrical power, the EarthRoamer XV-LT utilizes a .5 KW solar panel array and a 6.1 KW/h AGM battery bank. Biodiesel compatible air heaters, water heaters and stoves replace the propane appliances found on traditional RVs. EarthRoamer XV-LTs are designed to tackle any terrain with features like four-wheel drive, aggressive military tires, front and rear heavy duty bumpers with winches, and high intensity discharge (HID) lighting.

2007 marked the launch of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited based EarthRoamer XV-JP. The XV-JP quickly established itself as the most capable four wheel drive camper in production by being the first self-contained camper to complete the notoriously challenging Rubicon trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The EarthRoamer XV-JP with its revolutionary LoftTop™ design was later recognized by the Boulder County Business Report when it received their IQ award for innovation.

EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles have confidently carried their owners millions of miles ranging as far north as the shores of the Arctic Ocean and as far south to the Panama Canal. Expeditions to South America and Africa are in the planning stages. One intrepid EarthRoamer owner and his wife spent almost three years driving completely around the world in their EarthRoamer XV-LT.

Demand for the revolutionary camper design was strong and over 100 EarthRoamer XV-LTs were sold between 2002 and 2008 at an average retail price of almost a quarter million dollars each. The company’s rapid growth was recognized in 2008 by Inc. Magazine when it reported EarthRoamer as the 597th fastest growing private company in the U.S. Inc. Magazine also identified EarthRoamer as the 8th fastest growing private transportation company in the US and the 9th fastest growing private company in the Denver metro area. With growth limited by production capacity, in mid 2005 EarthRoamer.com LLC purchased 3.5 acres in Lafayette, Colorado and began design of a new corporate headquarters and production facility.

Following record sales the 4th quarter of 2007, EarthRoamer.com LLC moved into a new 56,000 square foot corporate headquarters in February of 2008 – just as diesel fuel prices began to climb to over $4.50 per gallon and the stock market began a precipitous decent. High fuel prices and a faltering economy caused a rapid drop in new vehicle sales and by midsummer 2008 the company had laid off half of its workforce. By the end of 2008, the company was unable to service the debt on the new corporate headquarters and had ceased operations. Subsequently, EarthRoamer.com LLC was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Recognizing the need to service and support existing EarthRoamer vehicle owners and an opportunity to revive the EarthRoamer brand, Bill Swails joined forces with former production manager Eric Rexroth, and former service managers Tyler Tatro and Mike Funari to form Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC. The new company – operating under the trade name EarthRoamer – recently signed a long term lease for production space and corporate offices just north of Denver at Long’s Peak Business Center in Dacono, Colorado. Currently the company is manufacturing EarthRoamer XV-LTs in temporary leased space until the new space is ready for occupancy.

Bill Swails and his team will be taking the EarthRoamer brand in new and exciting directions with designs for both larger and smaller sized expedition vehicle models already on the drawing boards. The team also plans to offer its expertise in expedition vehicle design and construction to provide design/build services for individuals with unique requirements. “If you can dream it, we can build it” says Bill Swails, president and CEO of EarthRoamer. In addition, the team is actively working on implementing new technologies like fuel cells, external combustion generators, lithium ion battery packs and parallel hydraulic hybrid drive systems. According to Bill Swails, “By aggressively embracing new and exciting technological advances and emphasizing world class design, EarthRoamer will continue to be the recognized leader in designing and building the most comfortable, capable and environmentally responsible expedition vehicles in the world.”

Todd RichardsonDon't be fooled by its good looks! I have a 2012 and it has spent over fore months in the shop. everything from a blown transmission, a new brain for the power management, its on its third air conditioner, in the shop for the awning twice, the dvd player in the dash no longer works, the power step no longer works, and I just found out that the emaciatior pump has broke loos and is just hanging by its hoses. if you are traveling you can't get it serviced under warranty unless you take it to a airstream dealer (only one in the Midwest) The vehicle has been a complete disappointment. I called the service manager one time at the Midwest dealer and told him about a problem I was having and he said " what do you want me to do about it!"Re:2009 Airstream Interstate Class B

Terri DialSorry about the multiple posts... I did not realie that it posted the first time. Re:Dutchmen travel trailer
Terri DialI have a Dutchmen Aspen Trail Travel Trailer. I have to say that I am beyond disappointed with Dutchmen and will never buy another! We have had this trailer for under 3 years and... In the first 20 months we had three blow outs and the siding blew off on one side. We had to file a claim with our insurance to have the damage from the blow outs fixed but at the same time we had to have the siding fixed. I have the warranty that clearly states that the siding, underbelly and roof have a two-year warranty where everything else only had a 1-year warranty. When we had the siding fixed last year we, Keystone and our insurance company told the dealer to check the rest of the trailer to make sure that everything was secure so this would not happen again. This was all last year in the beginning of the year. We were also told that the warranty was out after 1 year and I had to physically take them our warranty paper stating that the siding was covered for 2. Reluctantly it was fixed. Last month we headed down to the beach. And again, the siding blew off. This time on the other side. we have our trailer at another repair shop, have spoken with Keystone/Dutchmen and after almost two weeks were told that they were not going to fix our trailer, that it was not a manufacturer defect. I'm sorry, but how is the siding blowing off of a trailer that is less than 3 years old NOT a manufacturer defect! How is siding blowing off a trailer period, NOT a defect. After filing yet ANOTHER claim to have this thing fixed we will be giving it back and I will certainly find another manufacturer that has better built trailers.Re:Dutchmen travel trailer

wallyI bought a 95 roadtrek w/125K miles. the 94 van has a shorter wheelbase and gives it a short turn ability which is great. After 60'000miles I have enjoyed it very much. WE have gone coast to coast and very seldom stayed at a camp ground. Climbing the western mountains had to turn off a/c to avoid over heating. My only complaint is I have a versatile so now thinking a later model popular with less than 185,000 miles. What a great motor home.Re: Roadtrek 190 class B motorhome

Jason CogleTara - I agree 100%. My wife and I bought a new 2010 Outlaw, and we've had NOTHING but problems. Every time we use it, something breaks. They are completely unwilling to stand behind their product. All they can say is, "1-year warranty." How many times does the average person use an RV in one year? The warranty is useless, but I guess Damon is smart for having a 1-year warranty since they're putting out such a piece of garbage.Re: Damon Outlaw class A toy hauler
Jason CogleTara - I agree with you 100%. My wife and I bought a 2010 brand new Damon Outlaw. Every time we use it, something breaks. They are the biggest pieces of garbage out there. Great layout, but HORRIBLE product.Re: Damon Outlaw class A toy hauler

JohnI have had two Coleman (Dutchmen) Travel trailers with outside kitchen which is the same as the Dutchmen described here, the model is 314 BH 35' The first one the main slide out top seal came off at first camping trip it was supposed to be a "New" trailer and the outside kitchen plumbing leaked. This first trailer was replaced with the same model direct from "Factory" The second replacement direct from the factory the bathroom shower tub cracked at the drain because a board under the tub was placed over the drain pipe causing the down pressure to pull on the drain cracking the drain causing a major leak when taking a shower. The floor vinyl was also cut because staples were put in the wrong place in the carpet causing the staples to cut the floor vinyl when bringing the slide to travel position> Dutchmen manufacturing has no quality control and I will never again purchase any products build by this company or recommended any of my military veterans too do the same. At my recent camping trip I had to use a relatives to take a shower and went almost two weeks without taking a shower. Happy camping in a Dutchman built trailer, Not. Unfortunately the trailer is out of warranty and do not look forward for Dutchmen to repair the problem with the second replacement trailer I bought at camping world, these manufactured sorry quality control defects are not the fault of camping world but due to sorry construction and someone not checking the employees work. My only re-course may be legal action for emotional damages and mental strain. Beware of Dutchmen manufactured trailers like the Coleman.Re:Dutchmen travel trailer
