EarthRoamer XV-LT four wheel drive camper RV - production resumed - press release
Earthoamer press release 3/19/2010 -  Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC (operating under the tradename EarthRoamer) has purchased the remaining assets of LLC which filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009 and has resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

Bill Swails – designer of EarthRoamer XV-LT and XV-JP Xpedition Vehicles – has teamed with former key managers to start a new company and re-launch the EarthRoamer brand. The new company (Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC) has purchased the remaining assets of LLC which filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2009. The original EarthRoamer XV-LT molds and “EarthRoamer” trademark were among the assets purchased by the new venture, and the company will be operating under the trade name “EarthRoamer.” The new company recently resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

When launched in 2002, the four wheel drive, turbo-diesel, Ford F-550 based EarthRoamer XV-LT revolutionized the expedition vehicle marketplace with its innovative design, quality construction and “go anywhere” capability.

The XV-LT is capable of running entirely on renewable biodiesel and solar energy. In a marketplace where traditional RVs continue to rely on noisy generators for electrical power, the EarthRoamer XV-LT utilizes a .5 KW solar panel array and a 6.1 KW/h AGM battery bank. Biodiesel compatible air heaters, water heaters and stoves replace the propane appliances found on traditional RVs. EarthRoamer XV-LTs are designed to tackle any terrain with features like four-wheel drive, aggressive military tires, front and rear heavy duty bumpers with winches, and high intensity discharge (HID) lighting.

2007 marked the launch of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited based EarthRoamer XV-JP. The XV-JP quickly established itself as the most capable four wheel drive camper in production by being the first self-contained camper to complete the notoriously challenging Rubicon trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The EarthRoamer XV-JP with its revolutionary LoftTop™ design was later recognized by the Boulder County Business Report when it received their IQ award for innovation.

EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles have confidently carried their owners millions of miles ranging as far north as the shores of the Arctic Ocean and as far south to the Panama Canal. Expeditions to South America and Africa are in the planning stages. One intrepid EarthRoamer owner and his wife spent almost three years driving completely around the world in their EarthRoamer XV-LT.

Demand for the revolutionary camper design was strong and over 100 EarthRoamer XV-LTs were sold between 2002 and 2008 at an average retail price of almost a quarter million dollars each. The company’s rapid growth was recognized in 2008 by Inc. Magazine when it reported EarthRoamer as the 597th fastest growing private company in the U.S. Inc. Magazine also identified EarthRoamer as the 8th fastest growing private transportation company in the US and the 9th fastest growing private company in the Denver metro area. With growth limited by production capacity, in mid 2005 LLC purchased 3.5 acres in Lafayette, Colorado and began design of a new corporate headquarters and production facility.

Following record sales the 4th quarter of 2007, LLC moved into a new 56,000 square foot corporate headquarters in February of 2008 – just as diesel fuel prices began to climb to over $4.50 per gallon and the stock market began a precipitous decent. High fuel prices and a faltering economy caused a rapid drop in new vehicle sales and by midsummer 2008 the company had laid off half of its workforce. By the end of 2008, the company was unable to service the debt on the new corporate headquarters and had ceased operations. Subsequently, LLC was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Recognizing the need to service and support existing EarthRoamer vehicle owners and an opportunity to revive the EarthRoamer brand, Bill Swails joined forces with former production manager Eric Rexroth, and former service managers Tyler Tatro and Mike Funari to form Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC. The new company – operating under the trade name EarthRoamer – recently signed a long term lease for production space and corporate offices just north of Denver at Long’s Peak Business Center in Dacono, Colorado. Currently the company is manufacturing EarthRoamer XV-LTs in temporary leased space until the new space is ready for occupancy.

Bill Swails and his team will be taking the EarthRoamer brand in new and exciting directions with designs for both larger and smaller sized expedition vehicle models already on the drawing boards. The team also plans to offer its expertise in expedition vehicle design and construction to provide design/build services for individuals with unique requirements. “If you can dream it, we can build it” says Bill Swails, president and CEO of EarthRoamer. In addition, the team is actively working on implementing new technologies like fuel cells, external combustion generators, lithium ion battery packs and parallel hydraulic hybrid drive systems. According to Bill Swails, “By aggressively embracing new and exciting technological advances and emphasizing world class design, EarthRoamer will continue to be the recognized leader in designing and building the most comfortable, capable and environmentally responsible expedition vehicles in the world.”

Gerry FranklinRecently bought a 2012 used bronco. Many problems with the door. The hinges are off and despite repeated attempts by service people it is still out of alignment. Our first major trip, the water pump quit and had to be replaced and then the topper, 1,400 miles from home, the crank mechanism for the pop up failed. A plastic gear broke. Can you imagine making a crank gear out of plastic? The part was only available in the US. We had to cancel our vacation and head for home. I have no confidence in this unit and am selling it. cancel our vRe: Palomino Bronco folding truck camper

Screwed customerJust bought a new Jayco 3912 Seismic. Having owned motorhomes, travel trailers, park models, and fifth wheels for over forty years, I can say without a doubt, that this is the worst piece of junk I have ever owned. I made the mistake of assuming an 80k unit would be usable and something to be proud of. I bought the unit 3 weeks ago and it hasn't even left the dealers lot as they try to fix all the noticeable problems present. I have even spent 2 days of my own, just going through the unit and trying to fix scratched and dented woodwork and appliances, furniture that doesn't fit, wiring that isn't hooked up or stowed away, filling nail holes, filling in gaps in the woodwork where they couldn't even cut things properly, cutting down drawer handles so they don't hit appliances or other cabinets, cleaning up paint overspray on moldings and slide outs, and the list goes on and on. Between the dealer and I, I'm sure that 40-50 hours have just been spent on cosmetic and interior issues. I am very concerned as to the infrastructure and all the mechanicals that haven't been used yet. I have written and spoken to Jayco 4 times so far and the best answer I got was "Sorry". If anybody is considering a Jayco unit, stay away and buy an old used unit as it can't be any worse than a new Jayco one. They should fire all their quality control people(if they have such a thing), fire the engineers, and get rid of anyone that is supposed to help their customers. I have been in sales and service for 40 years and how a company can stay in business, and in good conscience sell such junk, is beyond my understanding. I know that once the warranty expires I will be getting rid of this unit ASAP, probably at a considerable loss. And in the meantime I will do everything in my power to steer buyers away from their products. My next step is to get the officials in charge of our state's lemon laws to get involved. My disgust with this product is overwhelming and has turned what should be an enjoyable experience into one of the worst episodes of my life!Re: Jayco Eagle fifth wheel

LoriWe have a 2008 heartland north trail 28 ft travel trailer. I've been reading about all the problems and know now I'm not alone. We also have major delaminating with the whole front. We have had leaking for several years. No place could find the leak. After several thousand spent we found the leak on roof also found slide out cable off. The front is now spongy. Feels like you can put your hand through it. Radio cd player stopped working several years ago. We also can't sell it and still owe money on it. What a POS it is. Where do we go from here?Re: Heartland North Trail travel trailer
steve P2009 Trail Sport TS29BHSS, purchased in 2010 in Burlington Ont. This unit has had leak problems right from the first season. Water was showing up on the kitchen floor so while under warranty the dealer resealed slide-out and cut 1/4 inch off of the bottom of the kitchen cabinets as the slide-out was dragging on the floor . Spring 2012, resealed around rear exterior cabinet door as water damage visible on floor inside rear cabinet.Slide-out floor still a problem and rubs on floor. While camping summer 2012 I was investigating source of water on kitchen floor and discovered that the corrugated hose that connects the kitchen sink drain was not properly attached to the ABS drain stack and was leaking. At this time I pointed out the spongy floor to the dealer service manager and complained that this miss connected hose should have been spotted in the PDI. So he agreed to pull the stove to reattach the hose in goodwill, and suggested that this leak was likely the cause of the spongy floor and now that the leak was fixed the floor would dry out and the slide-out would not get any worse.Summer 2014 no water on floor. but slide no longer operates. Ive noticed that the spongy floor is isolated to the area directly over the holding tanks . I suspect the plumbing connections to the tanks may be as poorly made as they were to the kitchen sink as the floor seemed softer after traveling with tanks 1/4 full to rinse. The unit is now on the dealer lot waiting to be assessed by service department. The service manager fears the cost to repair the floor would be "exponential". If considering purchasing a trailer ,avoid any brand associated with this manufacturer. Re: R-Vision Trail-Lite travel trailer
Bob from KYHi everyone, I went out of my way to purchase a 2015 Gray Wolf 28BHKS from Cheyenne Camping Center in Walcott, IA. I saved at least $4500. Although it was a 500 mile drive it was all good, had a great time traveling their and back and it helped me get used to pulling a TT (have a Class A but decided to go with a TT this time). At the dealer I spent at least 2 hours checking out the RV from the top of the roof to the undercarriage and only had a couple very minor items that they happily fixed. Then the service manager spent at least 1 ½ hours with me to explain the operation and use of every item in the RV, what to expect and explained how the RV should be serviced. Wow.. I was not expecting such great service. Now, I have read the posted reviews and would like to add my two cents. TV antenna and the boost, please remember to switch the boost switch on when using the TV. A little red light will illuminate when it is on. If the boost is not on then don’t expect to get really good reception. This is not a Forest River manufacturing issue it is a user/operator problem, read the instructions. I too have rabbit ears in the house and get 8 to 10 channels but in the RV with the boost switch “ON” I get really good reception from 25 channels. Water leaks/seeps etc. follow the manufacturers recommended service and inspection instructions and you will not have leaks/seeps. Before I signed the dotted line the service manager and I inspected the roof, windows, vents, doors for seals and sealing. Then I knew I had a well-sealed RV. Now I follow the manufacturer’s service/inspection guidance. I learned from experience with my Class A that you must inspect and repair/replace seals and sealant regularly (at least twice a year) in order to prevent leaks. This is the nature of the beast no matter what brand of RV you buy. RV’s flex a lot, from sun heating and cooling and then riding down the road at 60+ MPH (that’s like being in a really heavy storm). And we all know how smooth the RV camping site roads are…ha..ha. I failed to do this with my Class A and my kitchen vent leaked damaging the ceiling and floor… $$$$$, but that was my fault, not the manufacturer or the dealer. Someone wrote about tire ware, I agree it is a problem that requires a bit of research and maintenance. Abnormal tire ware can attributed to improper and over loading of the RV and not regularly rotating the tires. And for the axel issues, I have not ever had any although I do my best to keep the RV off the curbs while turning and for sure out of the ditch too. Those road hazards have damaging affects to both tires/wheel and axels… my car trailer is proof of that. Also I have found it to be very useful, having good side mirrors on the tow vehicle nice to see what is coming up. One advantage my Class A had was a rear TV monitor. I would turn it on when traffic was getting heavy or when I was in a construction area. Currently I am in the process of mounting a rear view mounted TV camera on my TT and placing the monitor over my rear view mirror. They are not expensive and add a bit of safety and security (what a novel touch). Keep on camping from Bob!Re: Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf travel trailer

FrankWe purchased a 2010 Cedar Creek and have had some minor problems with the exception of one big problem. The slide on the entrance slides has two vertical sliding windows on each end which we have determined have no weep holes. When it rains the water fills up the bottom window channel and pours into the rv onto the slide out floor. We have had it in several times to have this checked out and nobody could make it leak. Well, we have pictures and video of the water pouring in. Now the subfloor in the slide out has dropped, torn the vinyl flooring, and is rotten on each end of the slide out. Close to $4000.00 to have this repaired. The windows are the problem and the leaking has absolutely nothing to do with owner neglect. So far Forest River does not want to help at all and they should pay for the repairs even though it is out of warranty. However, having it repaired would be useless unless they had a solution for the leaking windows. Very in satisfied with the rv and Forest River. We would never buy a FOrest River again.Re: Forest River Cedar Creek fifth wheel

RandyOur 2012 Montana 3402 RL living room slide leaks water all over the dining room table and couch when it rains. The seals look like they are installed correctly. I even washed it down with a water hose, trying to find the leak and no water came inside the coach. Next time it rained with the slide out, the dining room was soaked and the lamps had water leaking onto the dining room table! What's up with that? I've been all over that slide looking for something that's causing the water to come inside of the slide and I can't find a thing! By the way, I have Diamond 5 year extended warranty on the coach and they won't cover the seals leaking or the damage to the trailer. They say it's Montana's problem, but Montana says the coach is out of warranty, so have a nice day. I am so frustrated with this problem. I previously owned a Holiday Rambler 30 foot tow behind and never had any problems with it in 12 years. I wish they come back into business. I'd dump the Montana in a second!
