EarthRoamer XV-LT four wheel drive camper RV - production resumed - press release

Earthoamer press release 3/19/2010 -  Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC (operating under the tradename EarthRoamer) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009 and has resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

Bill Swails – designer of EarthRoamer XV-LT and XV-JP Xpedition Vehicles – has teamed with former key managers to start a new company and re-launch the EarthRoamer brand. The new company (Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2009. The original EarthRoamer XV-LT molds and “EarthRoamer” trademark were among the assets purchased by the new venture, and the company will be operating under the trade name “EarthRoamer.” The new company recently resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

When launched in 2002, the four wheel drive, turbo-diesel, Ford F-550 based EarthRoamer XV-LT revolutionized the expedition vehicle marketplace with its innovative design, quality construction and “go anywhere” capability.

The XV-LT is capable of running entirely on renewable biodiesel and solar energy. In a marketplace where traditional RVs continue to rely on noisy generators for electrical power, the EarthRoamer XV-LT utilizes a .5 KW solar panel array and a 6.1 KW/h AGM battery bank. Biodiesel compatible air heaters, water heaters and stoves replace the propane appliances found on traditional RVs. EarthRoamer XV-LTs are designed to tackle any terrain with features like four-wheel drive, aggressive military tires, front and rear heavy duty bumpers with winches, and high intensity discharge (HID) lighting.

2007 marked the launch of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited based EarthRoamer XV-JP. The XV-JP quickly established itself as the most capable four wheel drive camper in production by being the first self-contained camper to complete the notoriously challenging Rubicon trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The EarthRoamer XV-JP with its revolutionary LoftTop™ design was later recognized by the Boulder County Business Report when it received their IQ award for innovation.

EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles have confidently carried their owners millions of miles ranging as far north as the shores of the Arctic Ocean and as far south to the Panama Canal. Expeditions to South America and Africa are in the planning stages. One intrepid EarthRoamer owner and his wife spent almost three years driving completely around the world in their EarthRoamer XV-LT.

Demand for the revolutionary camper design was strong and over 100 EarthRoamer XV-LTs were sold between 2002 and 2008 at an average retail price of almost a quarter million dollars each. The company’s rapid growth was recognized in 2008 by Inc. Magazine when it reported EarthRoamer as the 597th fastest growing private company in the U.S. Inc. Magazine also identified EarthRoamer as the 8th fastest growing private transportation company in the US and the 9th fastest growing private company in the Denver metro area. With growth limited by production capacity, in mid 2005 EarthRoamer.com LLC purchased 3.5 acres in Lafayette, Colorado and began design of a new corporate headquarters and production facility.

Following record sales the 4th quarter of 2007, EarthRoamer.com LLC moved into a new 56,000 square foot corporate headquarters in February of 2008 – just as diesel fuel prices began to climb to over $4.50 per gallon and the stock market began a precipitous decent. High fuel prices and a faltering economy caused a rapid drop in new vehicle sales and by midsummer 2008 the company had laid off half of its workforce. By the end of 2008, the company was unable to service the debt on the new corporate headquarters and had ceased operations. Subsequently, EarthRoamer.com LLC was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Recognizing the need to service and support existing EarthRoamer vehicle owners and an opportunity to revive the EarthRoamer brand, Bill Swails joined forces with former production manager Eric Rexroth, and former service managers Tyler Tatro and Mike Funari to form Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC. The new company – operating under the trade name EarthRoamer – recently signed a long term lease for production space and corporate offices just north of Denver at Long’s Peak Business Center in Dacono, Colorado. Currently the company is manufacturing EarthRoamer XV-LTs in temporary leased space until the new space is ready for occupancy.

Bill Swails and his team will be taking the EarthRoamer brand in new and exciting directions with designs for both larger and smaller sized expedition vehicle models already on the drawing boards. The team also plans to offer its expertise in expedition vehicle design and construction to provide design/build services for individuals with unique requirements. “If you can dream it, we can build it” says Bill Swails, president and CEO of EarthRoamer. In addition, the team is actively working on implementing new technologies like fuel cells, external combustion generators, lithium ion battery packs and parallel hydraulic hybrid drive systems. According to Bill Swails, “By aggressively embracing new and exciting technological advances and emphasizing world class design, EarthRoamer will continue to be the recognized leader in designing and building the most comfortable, capable and environmentally responsible expedition vehicles in the world.”

Since then after 1700 miles I have had three additional flats or blowouts. All tires are 2010 date. I always checked tire presures before and during trip. I have a 2009 16' Scamp in very good condition that has been used a few times. It is like floor plan #5 but with 2 piggy-back cabinets to the right of the bathroom (toilet and shower). The toilet has never been used. The trailer is in very good shape. It has a retractable awning over the right side. Extra propane gas tank (for 2 total) in front. It also has a receiver in back for bike rack or platform for extra outside storage. I'm asking $14,500 for it. I live in Southern California. Floor bubbled up,seal on roof was separating, furnace makes clicking noise so loud family couldn't sleep. Fred BI have 2008 25C from new. Pleased with the purchase. My good fortune that it has been very good overall. Toured many States and now in Europe. With hindsight I would have liked hydraulic levelers. I could do with more storage because of the way I use it. Uprating the converter and adding a 2nd leisure battery was sensible. Not good so far is the durability on the upholstery on U-shaped dinette and day/night blinds.Re: Four Winds Chateau Sport class C motorhome

SuzanneFor Sale 1971 Shasta Compact Asking $2,400 - OBO Original Wings, Original Shasta Metal Emblem, Original Compact Metal Emblem and A Clear Title These items in the heading are the hardest things to find on these highly sought after older trailers. I have seen many Shasta Compacts but it is rate to see the original wing, the original metal Shasta emblem AND the original metal Compact emblem. In fact, for years I didn’t even know there was a metal Compact emblem, I had never seen one. This very cute and hard to find lightweight trailer is a real attention grabber. The trailer weights 1125 pounds (according to the Shasta specifications) and is 13 foot long tongue to bumper. This trailer is so lightweight it can be towed with a car. It is ready for restoration or remodeling. This is a trailer that you can put your own design on and you won’t have to live with someone else’s design. This is your opportunity to HAVE IT YOUR WAY! The trailer does not leak now but has leaked in the past. It has a full-size bed, the original bunk bed, two closets (one of which could be a bathroom), jalousie windows, spare tire rack and awning rail. It does not have the stove or ice box. It comes with a microwave. As my restorer said “this trailer has good bone but does need work.” If you have questions or are interested in buying this trailer, call Sue at (518) 928-4868. O'Donnell'sSave your money and Do NOT buy from Heartland, especially this type of unit, Silverado Bighorn! The entire roof is leaking and the dealership, "Camping World" or the manufacturer, "Heartland" keep giving us the run around. Both say the damage is due to "lack of maintenance," which is a complete crock. We have only had the unit for ONE year! Again, save your money and go elsewhere!Re:Heartland Bighorn 5th wheel

Donald GoodeI bought a 2014 Sprinter 320BHS. Absolutely love the layout. I had a big problem on day 2 though. I picked it up on Saturday and started messing with it on Sunday. Turned on the furnace using gas to warm up the trailer and after 20 minutes the blower fan broke two fins and made a crazy loud noise. I have the unit dropped off for repair now. But this shouldn't have happened on a brand new unit. I'm looking forward to a lot of weekend fun with this thing. Had lots of upgrades added to it.Re: Keystone Sprinter travel trailer

BillyToddIn comparison, which does not say much for the industry, I feel confident that Jayco is probably one of the best available. BUT, I do agree with the posts on here about customer care, it is a wonder they are still in business if the judging was CUstomer service. My 2008 31V TT has had it's share of problems, the first of which was a lack luster recall on the axles. After the repair of the recalled item, which was to lower the axle set up by placing spacers that provided a 3 inch drop to avoid tires hit hit under side, they did not realign the hitch to a proper height therefore uneven weight distribution to the front set of tires caused both sides to blow out on the next trip. Traveling on the interstate a hundred miles from home with blow tires due to their error was crazy. I have also had the leaks from the water system causing soft spots as another poster said. Numerous other more minor things except one biggy, the wiring was done with the wrong polarity, Yeppers, blown electrical. Fun Jayco experience. Shame of it is, I like the unit and still own it....bad customer service from the manufacturer and the dealership. They are rude!Re: Jayco Slylark travel trailer
