EarthRoamer XV-LT four wheel drive camper RV - production resumed - press release

Earthoamer press release 3/19/2010 -  Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC (operating under the tradename EarthRoamer) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2009 and has resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

Bill Swails – designer of EarthRoamer XV-LT and XV-JP Xpedition Vehicles – has teamed with former key managers to start a new company and re-launch the EarthRoamer brand. The new company (Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC) has purchased the remaining assets of EarthRoamer.com LLC which filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2009. The original EarthRoamer XV-LT molds and “EarthRoamer” trademark were among the assets purchased by the new venture, and the company will be operating under the trade name “EarthRoamer.” The new company recently resumed production of EarthRoamer brand Xpedition Vehicles.

When launched in 2002, the four wheel drive, turbo-diesel, Ford F-550 based EarthRoamer XV-LT revolutionized the expedition vehicle marketplace with its innovative design, quality construction and “go anywhere” capability.

The XV-LT is capable of running entirely on renewable biodiesel and solar energy. In a marketplace where traditional RVs continue to rely on noisy generators for electrical power, the EarthRoamer XV-LT utilizes a .5 KW solar panel array and a 6.1 KW/h AGM battery bank. Biodiesel compatible air heaters, water heaters and stoves replace the propane appliances found on traditional RVs. EarthRoamer XV-LTs are designed to tackle any terrain with features like four-wheel drive, aggressive military tires, front and rear heavy duty bumpers with winches, and high intensity discharge (HID) lighting.

2007 marked the launch of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited based EarthRoamer XV-JP. The XV-JP quickly established itself as the most capable four wheel drive camper in production by being the first self-contained camper to complete the notoriously challenging Rubicon trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. The EarthRoamer XV-JP with its revolutionary LoftTop™ design was later recognized by the Boulder County Business Report when it received their IQ award for innovation.

EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles have confidently carried their owners millions of miles ranging as far north as the shores of the Arctic Ocean and as far south to the Panama Canal. Expeditions to South America and Africa are in the planning stages. One intrepid EarthRoamer owner and his wife spent almost three years driving completely around the world in their EarthRoamer XV-LT.

Demand for the revolutionary camper design was strong and over 100 EarthRoamer XV-LTs were sold between 2002 and 2008 at an average retail price of almost a quarter million dollars each. The company’s rapid growth was recognized in 2008 by Inc. Magazine when it reported EarthRoamer as the 597th fastest growing private company in the U.S. Inc. Magazine also identified EarthRoamer as the 8th fastest growing private transportation company in the US and the 9th fastest growing private company in the Denver metro area. With growth limited by production capacity, in mid 2005 EarthRoamer.com LLC purchased 3.5 acres in Lafayette, Colorado and began design of a new corporate headquarters and production facility.

Following record sales the 4th quarter of 2007, EarthRoamer.com LLC moved into a new 56,000 square foot corporate headquarters in February of 2008 – just as diesel fuel prices began to climb to over $4.50 per gallon and the stock market began a precipitous decent. High fuel prices and a faltering economy caused a rapid drop in new vehicle sales and by midsummer 2008 the company had laid off half of its workforce. By the end of 2008, the company was unable to service the debt on the new corporate headquarters and had ceased operations. Subsequently, EarthRoamer.com LLC was forced to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Recognizing the need to service and support existing EarthRoamer vehicle owners and an opportunity to revive the EarthRoamer brand, Bill Swails joined forces with former production manager Eric Rexroth, and former service managers Tyler Tatro and Mike Funari to form Xpedition Vehicle Service LLC. The new company – operating under the trade name EarthRoamer – recently signed a long term lease for production space and corporate offices just north of Denver at Long’s Peak Business Center in Dacono, Colorado. Currently the company is manufacturing EarthRoamer XV-LTs in temporary leased space until the new space is ready for occupancy.

Bill Swails and his team will be taking the EarthRoamer brand in new and exciting directions with designs for both larger and smaller sized expedition vehicle models already on the drawing boards. The team also plans to offer its expertise in expedition vehicle design and construction to provide design/build services for individuals with unique requirements. “If you can dream it, we can build it” says Bill Swails, president and CEO of EarthRoamer. In addition, the team is actively working on implementing new technologies like fuel cells, external combustion generators, lithium ion battery packs and parallel hydraulic hybrid drive systems. According to Bill Swails, “By aggressively embracing new and exciting technological advances and emphasizing world class design, EarthRoamer will continue to be the recognized leader in designing and building the most comfortable, capable and environmentally responsible expedition vehicles in the world.”

Josephd Maurizzibought new 2014 fun finder 25 foot in June. Excellent design, they put a lot of thought into this trailer. Looked at Winnabago but opted for the fun finder, they had the slam latch doors, the fantastic fans, higher head room, they did not cut corners too much. They did have a cheap mattress. It was like sleeping on a board, Replaced it w/foam mattress $700. They should look at the article in Bloomberg Business Week Dec 14. Title the largest tool in the toolbox. It is about Dodge Ram how you can custom order a Truck. The Rv indutry should take notie. I would love to be able to custom order. I want air ride suspension, cant find it, We had to replace the mattress, I want 4 season capability. cant find it. ect. The only bad thing is the underside has a foam board finish. The wind caught it and pulled it down and tore it. I pushed it back up their and seemed to be ok. I would put a couple of cross members in across the width of the trailer wood slats to hold it up in their. We have pulled it about 5000 miles so far. Built in generator would be nice. We are boondockers. So we pull this trailer over some rough road. We are limited on length too where we camp. Mountains, Desart ect. all in all I love the design of this trailer.Re: Fun Finder X travel trailer

Happy HighwayThe 2014 Winnebago Trend 23B is a nice vehicle for me, as a Senior Citizen. I did have the Dealership install "running boards" to make it easier to enter and exit the cab area. For one or two persons, in retirement, the space works for me. It might be a bit cozy with children on long trips. A very good mileage vehicle for those of us on Social Security, just wanting to travel each day.Re: 2014 Winnebago Trend 23B Class C Motorhome Review

JimI purchased a 2013 Fun Finder 244 last year. Before the year was up, the front cap started fading. The dealer, with Cruiser's blessing repainted a small portion of it. Within 90 days it started fading again and the original bottom portion started really fading. Looks like its 20 years old. Cruiser refuses to do anything about it. The dealer stepped in and will repaint it on their own. The manufacturer is horrible. Do not buy a Cruiser RV product!!!Re: Cruiser RV ViewFinder travel trailer

HowardI bought a 2012 bronco 600 camper. in june of 2012. used it for two trips then on the third trip to southern utah the crank failed. I had to go into Escalante utah and get a room. it was under warranty so it was fixed for free but the camper sat in the repair shop until the end of November almost two months so i could'nt use it. the next summer the hinges on the back door decided to sieze up cost me 150.00 to have new hinges and it took a month to get the parts to fix again. this last summer in June 1 and 1/2 years after the first crank system broke. I was in wyoming and the crank failed again. I took it back to where I had bought it new and they said it was out of warranty and it would be 900.00 to have everything repaired, including hinges. I argued that it should be under warranty since the first one had failed, but it was no use. the camper then sat for another two months waiting for another crank so I couldn't use the camper again this time for the whole summer. I agree twe should ask for a class action law suit. these campers are junk and are not dependable and if there is one thing we need in a camper in the back country its something that is dependable. oh and my refrigerators mounts have all crack and are barely holding it in. The small closet door was ripped from its hinges from driving on rough road. The company I bought this from Access RV in Salt Lake city are not taking responsibility the camper, manufacture is not taking responsibility, and the manufacturer of the crank system won't take responsibility.I am fed up I will be selling this as soon as lay down the 900.00 to pay the bill.Maybe small claims court.I hear that a good pop up back road camper is called the "4 Wheeler". very dependable and sturdy.two things this Forest river product is not.Re: Palomino Bronco truck camper

JanetThanks to all who have shared their problems with this line of camper trailers and warning the rest of us who are looking to buy one! This is a obviously a pretty lousy company when they won't help their current customers with legitimate & major problems! I am going to avoid them like the plague!! I don't know why such companies don't proactively resolve problems their manufacturing processes and/or employees caused in an immediate and positive manner! It's as if they think no one will know and they can shabbily keep doing what they are doing. Very sad!! Since they're useless to current owners, I hope they go out of business soon!!Re: Fun Finder X travel trailer

MimWe are considering buying a 178 or 179. Any comments pro & con appreciated. Also if you are looking to sell a gently used one , please post. ThanksRe: R-Pod Ultra Lite travel trailer
steve pWell John, why wouldn't we buy it? The trailer looked good to us on the lot and the floor plan suited our family well. The leak problems we are having might be due to the design of having the kitchen sink built into the slide. The way they have used corrugated pool vacuum hose to connect to ABS is a flawed design.A design I would recommend be avoided by anyone buying a new or used trailer, for reasons which I will describe here. The kitchen plumbing needs to allow for the in and out movement of the slide. This is accomplished with a 4 foot corrugated flexible hose, (the same as those sold in pool shops for connectable sections of vacuum hose) connecting the ABS sink drain to the ABS stack pipe to the holding tank. These corrugated sections connect reliably to one another, but not so well with ABS pipe (something I have learned the hard way). In the trail sport bhss29 this connection described above is hidden deep behind the stove and cabinetry. Now that I have removed the stove, I've found that this connection has separated a second time after having been re-connected in 2012 by the dealer service department. Further, more just past this connection the flex hose bends up, trapping water at the loose connection. This leak, is likely the main cause the spongy floor described in my previous post. Re: R-Vision Trail-Lite travel trailer
JBONEBought a view finder signature series in 2012 but was listed as a 201.I have only had it over 2yrs and the front cap from the top of the decal to the roof the clear coat is gone an its turning white looks like it has been in the sun for 30yrs never covered up.I called Cruiser warranty department and they told me there was nothing they could do for me now its going to cost me 1800.00 out of pocket due to poor quality coating on the cap.No help at all from them. The website says they are producing 100% quality products that is a joke will never have another cruiser.Re: Cruiser RV ViewFinder travel trailer

Mel SmithGreat unit by Winnebago. We have 2006 View J and it has about 50,000 miles on it. We average 16.5 mpg. It has one achellies heel. The turbo reasonator has a nasty habit of melting and delaminating puting you in "Limp Mode" of about 45 mph! This has happened to us FOUR (4) count 'em 4! times causing spoiled trips and dangerous times on the interstates. Having personally talked to Mercedes people they have NO FIX..nor one planned. The turboreasonator melts because it is made out of PLASTIC. Mercedes. Plastic.? I carry a spare with me now. I have ordered an aluminum aftermarket one from the SPRINTER STORE (online). They say it's just a bit noisier but it doesn't MELT! BY THE WAY I HAVE MET dozens of View/Navion owners who have had the same thing happen!Dozens! My advice? Buy a VIEW, NAVION or VIA or ERA and immediately replace the turbo reasonator. The hose likes to uncouple as well occasionally. Finally. I find it hard to believe that Mercedes doesn't fix this by a new part that doesn't melt. All I've gotten from Mercedes is a shrug of the shoulders. Check the internet comments. You'll see this is a widespread problem.Re: Winnebago View class C motorhome

BeverlyWe brought a new 2015 jay flight elite 26ft trailer. Drove it home and then 3 weeks later took it on it maiden voyage 50 miles away dry camping and 10 days later we are home. Now to get it into the dealer to have everything fixed. kitchen faucet leaks, the frame that holds up table that makes into a bed broke the first day out. shelf in the cabinet under the tv broke, shower barely has any water come out of it hot and cold water will not blend. both cabinet on the side of the bed bottom are bowing out. the jack will work only when plugged into the truck (will not work on electricity) We are hoping they will fix everything right when we take it in on NOv 7th.Re: Jayco Jay Flight travel trailer
