Re: RVing with Your PetCoryWe travel with 2 senior Goldens and a young one... It is very important that our Fur Babies stay cool, I would have not thought to leave a key with the camp host or a note... We usually don't lock the door when we leave them... And a ramp is very important to have to help get them in and out so the steep stairs don't hurt their hips.

Re: Getting Your Kicks at Age 66, the RV LifeCHUCK AND LIZWe were full time RV'er for 7 years while I was still working. My job included travel so the RV was perfect. Retired now (67) but have COPD and require oxygen. Bought a house as a home base. Have the house concentrator and bottle charger in washer/dryer compartment. Have a rented backup portable concentrator in living room. We still love our RVing and getting older may mean moving a little slower, but no reason to stop. Just make sure you got your meds and a way to get refills.
Re: Getting Your Kicks at Age 66, the RV LifeJodiAfter reading this article-I am reminded of how wonderful the RVing life is. My husband and I were RVers for 7 years - We never regretted a minute that we spent travelling around and seeing the country. I agree with the writer that when you pull into an RV park - you can make instant friends if you want to. Most people are basically friendly and helpful.
Re: RVing with Your PetKayI have 2 older dogs who are big (84 pounds each) and I'm new to RV'ing with them. Can someone tell me the best way to travel with older dogs? What to look for in a campsite and what ramps are best? They both have hip dysplasia. Thanks!
Re: Gasoline prices set to rise next month but fall overall for the yearcoachman99So the less gas I use the more I pay. What a Rip. We are supposed to get rid of Ethanol, get better mileage, but now raise the price.
Re: Retail sales heat up with new Super C RVs from Thor Motor CoachSuper C Motorhome FanThese new Thor Motor Coach Class Super C Motorhomes looks fantastic, the PowerStroke diesel engine is the best choice for mpg, power, and quality. I'm happy to see Thor start building Super C RVs, I'm sure the will also dominate the other Super C Motorhome manufacturers like they have in the other classes.
Re: Top Motorhome Manufacturer Unveils 2 New Diesel Super C MotorhomesPATI LIKE THE SUPER C CONCEPT WOULD BUY ONE OF THESE IN THE FUTURE.THE NEW FOUR WINDS REMINDS ME OF THE 2010 SILVER BULLET BY GULFSTREAM A SUPER C CAME OUT A FEW YEARS BACK. THAT UNIT CLAIMED 16 MPG W/52GAL TANK 832 MILE RANGE. IF FORD GETS 16 MPG WITH 68 GALLONS SHOULD GET 1088 MILES OF RANGE. WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHO ELSE COMES OUT WITH A SUPER C TYPE RV.
Re: Solar Keeps Rising: Stoltzfus RV and Marine Goes Green With SolarShannon ScottsFor the past 3 weeks I have been asking Dometic and Atwood for the efficiency rating (Coeffiency of Performance (COP)) for their heat pump/AC units for my 2002 Carriage. No one, Dometic nor Atwood, will give this data to me. Stating it's unavailable. This date is basic data. All one needs is the input in Watts and the output in BTU per hour when the heat pump is operating without a electric heat strip. It seems that they are trying to hide something. The new heat pump technology is the world most efficient way to heat anything (space or water) period if you have a source of electric (generator or say a fuel cell). If everyone who wanted to buy a heat pump demanded this information then they would have to provide it. The standard GE heat pump at about 9,000 BTUH((Window and PTAC) has a COP of 2.9 to 3.7 resectively at 47 degrees F. That means that for every 1000 watts of electricity used you could get more than 10,000 BTUH of heat. To compare to a stardard electric heater the same 1000 Watts would only produce 3413 BTUH of heat. The COP drops when the outside temperature drops because the heat pump compressor has to work harder to harvest the available ambient heat in the outside air. Are the RV AC/Heat Pump manufacturers trying to hide the fact that they are selling people very low COP heat pumps compared to standard house units out there where as they might have to increase the COP to really compete? PS If anyone out there has access to this data please post it here. Thanks.
Re: Rand McNally and RVDA Dealer and Service Location AppfmprdwgJust purchased 2012 Jayco Seneca 38 foot. Cummins diesel and Freightliner chassis. Lots of power, mileage is a true 10mpg. I have over 4000 miles of travel to prove it. King bed, fireplace, 2 slides, 4 TV's. Only thing I do not like is 2 fuel tanks but not same sized and must use DEF (Diesel Emmision fluid). A real pain on the trunk !!!!
Re: EcoMotors Secures Investment for OPOC EnginelesterndOpposed piston diesels are not new technology. They were used in the 60's in Europe in Dodge trucks. They have a compact height advantage and the engine was under the flatbed.
Re: Minnesota residents evading sales tax by registering RVs in MontanaFritzUsed to live in the Peoples Republic of Minnesota. Vote with your feet. Democrat Farm-Labor says it all. Don't set up a shell corporation; move there, or to any state with a favorable tax structure. I moved when I saw that the state was sucking me dry.

Re: Minnesota residents evading sales tax by registering RVs in MontanaTwoA corporation is a legal entity. A corporation can own property. If you incorporate in Montana and your corporation is the registured owner of your vehicle and it is registured to the corporation at the Montana corporate hq address you have commited no crime or fraud. You have the legal right to do the above.
Re: The Outdoor Foundation Special Report on CampingGailI don't see the relativity in a report based on a survey done four years ago. A lot has changed in four year - gas/diesel prices, cost of camping. If the Outdoor Foundation is collecting information yearly - why does it take four years to publish this report?

Re: Futuristic Motorhome eleMMentsunshine Does this unit have a kitchen? I don't see any in the layout. Not sure why anyone would want to travel without a kitchen especially a fridge.
Re: Futuristic Motorhome eleMMentRichard H ZentgrafAs long as thease dreamers think that the majority of RV'rs want to take their Manhatten or Hollywood penthouse along, they are mistaken. Get back to basics, a comfortable ride, sleep off the ground, a one burner stove is Ok and scrap the carpets. And, oh yes. Leave the damn TV at home.

Re: Fuel-cell cars go commercial 2015 - implications for RVsARoachHoly cow this sounds promising, my wife absolutely hates living without AC in the summer, she also hates me and the kids gone every weekend. I hate burning diesel unnecessarily. This might make everyone happy in my family.

Re: Forest River Prime Time LaCrosse travel trailer TaylorWe have a 2013 Lacrosse 327 touring edition. It has now turn 1 year old, at the time of this writing we have replaced the 2 refrigerator handles, the wallpaper has bubbles and now the rubber roof has bubbles. The dealer says it is now out of warranty and they can't do anything. I called Prime time and also got sorry it is now out of warranty. This trailer is falling apart. I had a Jayco and after 9 years they replaced the roof free of charge. Do not buy this trailer.

Crossroads zinger Camper girlMy husband and I bought a brand new 2014 zinger and it is a real piece of junk!! The sofa has a hole in it, the two rockers were falling apart, one of the jacks left us stranded when it got stuck at a campground, and there are so many more issues to list. Our biggest issue is that lack of interest or concern from crossroads themselves!! Even after months of contacting them not one single thing has been done to compensate or have any of the the issues dealt with!! My advice is simple don't buy anything from crossroads!!!!!

Re: Fleetwood Evolution Camping TrailerLaura ZehnleMy husband and I purchased a new E-1 from Ketelson in Denver. The CD player went out 1st. This was 2008. Then we lost heat, and then the crank would not work!! The roof leaked and the interior and roof is a disaster. I paid over $11,500.00 CASH for this camper. Fleetwood is now out of business and we have no recourse. Ketelson Campers said they could repair and clean the inside and seal and rubberize the roof. There are a lot of us going through this. What ever happened to someone standing behind what they sell and promote. America has gone down the tubes. Laura Z. P.S. We learned a valuable lesson--to investigate before you buy anything. 7-28-14
Re: Jayco Eagle fifth wheelFrank GankasPurchased a used once Jayco Eagle 26.5 5th wheel in March of 2014. The Jayco was a 2013. On our way home from our first trip to the river our rubberized roof peeled halfway off with the plywood showing! Called Jayco to see what recourse or warranty and they said because we were not original owner we had no warranty. The trailer isn't even 2 years old and they wouldn't even give us the time of day! Unless you are purchasing a new Jayco, I would say never buy a used one since they cover nothing. I would never purchase or deal with that company

Re: Hi-Lo TowLite 15T small travel trailerJoyceLooking for a 17ft in Florida or Georgia
Re: R-Vision Trail-Lite travel trailerLuvmycamperJuly 26, 2014 I have had 2 Trail Lite's and loved both of them. I have read a lot of negative comments here and I have experienced most of them. My current trailer is a 2000 model 26 foot with rear kitchen/bath and sofa slide. All my problems were of my own making. Number one, you have to be vigilant with everything on the roof. The only water damage I have experienced was where the vent pipes extend through the roof. The hardware on the roof is plastic and over time will degrade from the sun and get hairline cracks. I replaced both of them with metal ones and no more leaks. I had to repair the floor and replace the vinyl and now it looks like new. Another problem was the cables on the dump valves were not cut to length at the factory. I took them loose, shortened them and no more dumping problems. I have pulled this camper from Virginia to the west coast twice. Once to Whitehorse Yukon Territory, 3 times to Florida. Once to Texas then New Mexico and back and once to Maine and back. I have worn out 3 sets of tires so far and this camper is ready to go anywhere I want to take it right now. I don't know why any one would need a manual. All the equipment is standard stuff and the manuals for all those things was included with mine. You have to realize also that these campers were built to be light weight and are not the high end type that some folks expect in terms of finish and upholstery. If you want that stuff you will have to have a big truck to pull all the weight. Please don't bad-mouth a product that is "as advertised" when most often your problems are because you yourself did not do due diligence in maintenance. I paint all the metal every two years, clean and seal the roof twice a year, re-caulk as necessary and lubricate doors and windows regularly too. Enjoy your camper and if it is not what you expected then sell it and get something heavier.
