Basic towing assistance

Most insurance companies provide basic towing assistance or reimburse you for towing expenses. What this means, though, is that you have to find the towing company, have them get you where you need to go, and then pay for the service. Afterwards, you have to then send the receipt to the insurance company, and wait 30 to 60 days for reimbursement.

Or, you could choose a roadside assistance package, powered by Coach-Net, which can be added to your current RV policy. As a member of the Coach-Net Star Program, emergency roadside service is available 24 hours a day anywhere in the United States and Canada. Whether you have a flat tire, a dead battery, or lock your keys inside the vehicle, assistance is just a phone call away.

Specialized RV Roadside Assistance:

If you need a tow, jump-start, tire change, locksmith, or fuel delivered, Coach-Net is ready 24/7. This network is managed and rated to maximize the quality of the service, and includes thousands of medium and heavy duty towing providers to cover any size RV. Services are available throughout the United States and Canada.

RV Technical Assistance (RV Tech Advantage):

Coach-Net pioneered RV technical assistance to assist RV owners with common issues associated with the RV lifestyle. Coach-Net’s RV technical team of in-house ASE--RVIA/RVDA certified and master certified technicians continues to lead the way with unmatched and unwavering support. Coach-Net’s technical staff is unparalleled and has the certifications to prove it.

Coach-Net’s RV technicians are on staff and available to provide basic troubleshooting and product support for slide room issues, leveling jack concerns, no power to the coach, A/C or heater issues, operating appliances, fresh and wastewater questions, etc. Other companies have tried to copy this service, but none of them can match Coach-Net’s experience or access to product knowledge.

As a member of Coach-Net’s Star Program, you will also be assisted in obtaining roadside service and repairs under recreational vehicle chassis manufacturer warranty programs. The program pays to send service to you when you call the toll-free number. There is no reimbursement for service which you contract for yourself, unless the dispatch service is unavailable, or if a law enforcement agency takes control of the situation.

At Coach-Net, they do not outsource member calls to another company -- they are the call center!

If you do not have Coach-Net currently, contact your insurance agent to have the Star Program service added to your existing policy.

Re: Minnesota residents evading sales tax by registering RVs in MontanaFritzUsed to live in the Peoples Republic of Minnesota. Vote with your feet. Democrat Farm-Labor says it all. Don't set up a shell corporation; move there, or to any state with a favorable tax structure. I moved when I saw that the state was sucking me dry.

Re: Minnesota residents evading sales tax by registering RVs in MontanaTwoA corporation is a legal entity. A corporation can own property. If you incorporate in Montana and your corporation is the registured owner of your vehicle and it is registured to the corporation at the Montana corporate hq address you have commited no crime or fraud. You have the legal right to do the above.
Re: Minnesota residents evading sales tax by registering RVs in MontanaGailI don't see the relativity in a report based on a survey done four years ago. A lot has changed in four year - gas/diesel prices, cost of camping. If the Outdoor Foundation is collecting information yearly - why does it take four years to publish this report?

Re: Futuristic Motorhome eleMMentsunshine Does this unit have a kitchen? I don't see any in the layout. Not sure why anyone would want to travel without a kitchen especially a fridge.
Re: Futuristic Motorhome eleMMentRichard H ZentgrafAs long as thease dreamers think that the majority of RV'rs want to take their Manhatten or Hollywood penthouse along, they are mistaken. Get back to basics, a comfortable ride, sleep off the ground, a one burner stove is Ok and scrap the carpets. And, oh yes. Leave the damn TV at home.

Re: Fuel-cell cars go commercial 2015 - implications for RVsARoachHoly cow this sounds promising, my wife absolutely hates living without AC in the summer, she also hates me and the kids gone every weekend. I hate burning diesel unnecessarily. This might make everyone happy in my family.
Re: RV industry bubble - just like housingChris PThis is exactly true, I lost both my house and my RV.
Re: Tracks to Adventure and Adventure Caravans mergeThe Eggesteins We went on the Tracks Alaska 30 days tour a couple of years ago. The reservations were made ahead of time for meals and campgrounds, the route was planned for the scenic areas, the wagon masters had knowledge of fuel stops and road conditions, and help was always available for mechanical and tire problems. Our highlights included the vast, open spaces and the drives from one stop to the next. We were amazed to see the amount of water in the rivers and creeks. The little towns like Chicken, Stewart, Valdez, and Homer (fishing) were wonderful. The wildlife along the roads, roaming about, Fairbanks, Denali park, Cassiar Highway and the Stewart Glacier area were also highlights of ours. No improvements needed! We went on our tour with Tracks after we heard from others that the tours are good and conducted well. We are planning on going on another tour with them.

Re: Show Dad Even More Love This WeekendKARlVLLove RVing and rvs and bbq free stuff, I'll be there look out for me
Re: $4 gas a thing of the past, at least for nowDodder3Great but nobody really explains why. I thought it was the oil countries who set the price but I read that it was really US speculators.
Re: How to sell your RV without really tryingRCD TexasConsignment is the best way to go. I've sold 2 motorhomes and I did it myself in both cases. The reason I did it was I thought I would make more money than if I consigned it. In both cases it was a real hassle and in the end I had to really reduce the price to sell it. Next time I'll consign. It's like selling a house - yourself or a realtor.
Re: Higher gas prices not slowing RV salesKen GI agree that it doesn't make much difference for a single trip, but if you're a full-timer that travels a lot like me, it can make a big difference. I'm on a fixed income and if it goes up and up, I'll just have to travel less I guess.
Re: Why settle for basic roadside assistanceCharles3I agree. A tire blowout is really tough. If you are OK they want to tow rather than change the tire depending where you are on the freeway. Imagine the damage!
Re: Why settle for basic roadside assistanceRoy56I have Coach Net and have used it for a tire change. Great help. Nobody who's ever had a tire blowout will ever say anything other than you need the BEST assistance you can get.
Re: Little Dealer, Little Prices RV helps One Job for AmericaLouGreat idea and good that companies are responding
Re: How to sell your RV without really tryingFortune499I haven't sold an RV (yet) but i've sold houses and I cant imagine doing it without a realator. Easy to buy, not so easy to sell.
Re: How to sell your RV without really tryingRosI've had 2 consignment experiences. The first was a waste of time we took the RV back after a couple of months and the second we sold it fairly quickly. Most important is who you consign it with and how they market it. It's the same as selling a house really.

Re: FulltimingSimonne Looking for male companion who has a motor home and is looking for a travel partner. I use to own a 35 ft Winnebago but sold it after my husband past away. I loved traveling with a motor home and miss it. I am 69, good looking, 5'7" tall 150 lbs. I am very active and healthy and take care of myself. I can help with expenses, cooking, and cleaning. I am very particular and neat and would like the same. I do not like slobs (sorry). My goal was to see the capital of all the states. On the way we would stop and see museum, flea markets, antiques shops. Go to the movies or theaters here and there. Staying in campgrouds for short times and enjoying playing cards and games with others there. I am open to try new things and adventurers. But motorcycle and snow mobile is not for me. Looking for a good gentlemen, caring, thoughtful man that is easy to get along with as I can be. I do not smoke, do drugs or drink. And I do not want someone who does (a social drink on occasion is OK) If interested send me an e-mail with your picture and info about yourself at(sim2travel@yahoo.com) And please no scam and be honest. At my age I don't have time for foolish stuff. I am retired and just want to enjoy what time we have left.

Re: Jayco Melbourne class C motorhomeMarkintheGardensWe have owned a 2010 Melbourne 29D for a little over a year. First, to jaybird, I think the 38'-8" is a typo. Our 29D is their largest model and I'm pretty sure it's about 31'-8". As far as handling, I think it handles very well. This is our first motorhome as owners, although we have rented a few times. It does react to cross winds and passing semis (don't they all?) We tow a Jeep Wrangler and even with our inexperience we have done well. As far as the actual coach, we bought this one from a local dealership that had it listed on consignment with 8,300 mi. We really liked the layout. Three slides makes it appear much more roomy. It's been perfect for the two of us and our two puppies. However, it seems that we have had more than our share of trouble (AC fan went out, Water heater died). Some of it has been covered by the maker of each component, others have been under our after-market extended warranty. Forget getting ANY help from JAYCO as a second owner. After several months, we noticed the floor in the galley felt "soft". It was discovered that the water system control valve connections were dripping. Apparently they had been dripping for a really long time and probably had not been properly tightened at the factory. JAYCO refused to do anything about the repair. With that kind of QC and zero support, I would not recommend them.
