"No

Ford
President
and
CEO
Alan
Mulally
in
written
testimony
to
the
House
Energy
and
Commerce
Subcommittee
said:
"No
one
can
predict
if
the
powertrain
of
the
future
will
be
hydrogen,
bio-fuels,
battery
electric,
advanced
diesel
and
gasoline
-
or
some
combination
of
these
technologies.
There
is
no
'silver
bullet'
solution
and
that's
why
we
(Ford)
are
involved
in
so
many
development
paths."
General
Motors'
Chairman
and
CEO
Rick
Wagoner
says
much
the
same:
"The
key,
as
we
see
it
at
GM,
is
energy
diversity.
We
believe
that
the
best
way
to
power
the
automobile
in
the
years
to
come,
is
to
do
so
with
many
different
sources
of
energy.
So,
what
are
the
conventional
and
alternative
energy
sources
we’re
talking
about,
and
how
do
we
see
them
playing
out?
First
on
the
list
are
conventional
gasoline
and
diesel
fuels…
and
they’ll
continue
to
be
the
principal
automotive
fuel
source
for
some
time.
This
means
several
things:
First,
as
an
industry,
we
must
continue
to
improve
the
efficiency
of
the
internal
combustion
engine,
as
we
have
for
decades
.
Second,
we
must
work
to
reduce
the
use
of
traditional
petroleum-based
fuels
by
partially
“displacing”
them
with
alternatives,
such
as
biofuels
like
E-85
ethanol
and
synthetic
fuels,
such
as
those
derived
from
coal,
natural
gas,
or
biomass."
Honda
however
are
much
more
confident
about
the
fuel
cell.
They
say
the
Honda
FCX
(pictured
above
)
is
"a
precursor
to
the
production
car
coming
in
2008"
Honda
says:
"This
amazing
vehicle
drives
completely
clean—emitting
nothing
into
the
air
but
water
vapor.
And
the
energy
source
for
this
next-generation
automobile
is…hydrogen.
A
clean,
domestic
fuel
that
significantly
cuts
carbon
emissions.
Yet
unlike
early
fuel-cell
prototypes,
the
FCX
Concept
features
a
well-equipped,
full-sized
cabin,
complete
with
the
latest
amenities.
There
will
be
lots
more
to
learn
about
fuel-cell
technology
in
the
near
future
as
the
new
FCX
Concept
evolves
into
a
production
vehicle.
Because
the
future
is
closer
than
you
think."
The
future
is
closer
than
you
think
...
?
What
do
you
think?

This is 2008! We should have had fuel cells, solar panels and so many other fuel and enviromental impacting items - it's plain silly. Come on RV industry, step forward and lead everyone else into the future. Believe me after years and years of BS from the government, auto industry and big oil companies we would welcome you. Step out there and lead everyone!

The availability of hydrogen is extremely limited. To get it from water, it takes much more energy than will be available from the hydrogen. This could be made economically feasable by utilizing electrical energy in low demand times, but the storage of the highly explosive gas is an unsolved problem.

The technology is already available, Why is it that we do not have a hybird motorhome. I thought winnebago would have one on the market by now.

I think this is great but if they are going to introduce this vehicle in 2008, where is the infrastructure? The future might be closer than you think but I think it can't be as close as 2008.
