| Shetland Sheep Dog (Sheltie) | m.k. westermayer | I rescue Shelties,and have 3 of my own. Shedding has never been a problem. I take mine to a groomer spring and fall, thats when they blow their coat, they get the under coat out. I feed them Purina One. Good food and some omiga 3 fatty acid added will help the coat. I have fostered 70 Shelties, and seen alot of coats. Good Luck w/your fur friends. |
| Papillon - x4 | Skip | Advice to people thinking of buying this breed: Wonderful Dogs, easy to train and live with. Only drawback is they are like Potato Chips, it is hard to have just one.
Comments about experiences: All 4 love to travel and they do not take up much room as ours weigh 4 - 8 pounds.
Rating: 5/5. Would you select this breed again?: Yes Other comments: The only disadvantage to 4 is one will need a Potty Break in the middle of setting up at the campsite.

| Cairn Terrier | AJF | Advice to people thinking of buying this breed: Absolutely buy this dog! They are personality-plus, self-assured, playful, very intelligent, always friendly with people and generally are friendly (although sometimes males seem aloof) with other dogs. As mentioned by others, make sure you get him or her from a reputable breeder. We'd suggest females as the males can get into marking, but that's probably more a general comment about all dogs.
Comments about experiences: Jake is now 13 and he loves to travel and loves to be walked three or four miles a day in any conditions, even desert (make sure you have water and are ready to back-pack them for awhile if you are into serious walking...they will get tired as they're generally running to keep up with strong hikers). We're full-timers and when we travel he's ready to go. He sits on a pad on Irene's lap for hours at a time, is alert when it's time to go out and is consistently affectionate...he's almost never in a bad mood. Rating: 5/5. Would you select this breed again?: Yes Other comments: Cairns have what appears to be an oily coat and can get dirty-looking and smelly fairly quickly. A minimal amount of grooming every day takes care of this. If you have "stripped" the puppy coat (many of us Cairn owners don't as we don't like to "hurt" the dog)the grooming issue is a little less.

| Golden Retriever | Roma | Advice to people thinking of buying this breed: Very good, our girl, has peepee in 47 states, and loved them all. Her first trip, from Vancouver B.C. to Winnipeg, Manitobs, she just about walked all the way. Guess the MH should have been bigger than 34ft. Comments about experiences: Good tip for all the "hair" is use a #7 blade and clip then right down, EXCEPT for the Flag (tail). Rating: 5/5. Would you select this breed again?: Yes |

Comments about experiences: likes to chew everything, jumps agound like a pogo stick. Very aware of everything around them. Quick learner,

| Boston Terrier | D'Ann K | Advice to people thinking of buying this breed: These are the most adorable, sweet natured dogs on the planet. My Ruby LOVES to RV and jumps in the travel trailer when we are just getting it ready to go! She can't wait to get on the road!It's like she knows an adventure is coming! A couple of other great things about Bostons is that they rarely bark and barely shed at all! Comments about experiences: Even as a little pup she loved riding in my lap when riding in the car. Always remember to have a tag w/ info on your baby, a leash, water bowl,doggie snacks,chew bones,toys and poop bags!!!Don't forget a stake so your pup can hang out outside at the RV park.It is also a good idea to have a copy of your pups shot records in the RV and your vets phone number just in case! Rating: 5 /5. Would you select this breed again?: Yes Other comments: I can only think of advantages! Alot of hotels will not allow dogs- but we havn't found an RV park yet that doesn't allow pups! We would miss out on alot of fun if she stayed home! She's our little clown!
