We have checked out many different brands of RV's and for now been basically happy with the Winnebago/Itasca models. We did own a gas model - a 2008 Itasca Sunrise- but deep down, I knew a diesel was what I wanted and so we traded for 2002 Winnebago Journey. I also like the Vectra and may trade in a few years for a slightly newer Vectra model. From what I can tell, all RV's regardless of the manufacturer have issues. IF you are not a fixer-upper person, what's important is to go with a brand that offers a warranty and it will be helpful to find a dealer who will be there for you. The good thing about Winnebago is that they are still in business and do have a dealer network across the US for service. If you are new to RV-ing, it will be helpful to keep in mind that all RV's will need maintenance from time-to-time. I would say that
that I would consider Winnebago to be the the minimum quality coach I would consider and it might be good to avoid some of the other 'discount' brands.

I think your right about the drop test that they perform at Winnebago, because I purchased a brand new '08 Winnebago Destination and I have got to say the one constant is that it falls to pieces....literally!! I have had so many problems with this RV, I will NEVER purchase another Winnebago product.....PERIOD!!!! P.S. I am NOT a first time RV owner either. Thanks, Steph : )

If you shop around you will find that Winnebago is one of the only manufactures that put fiberglass roofs on ALL their rigs. I was told by other companies that it is too expensive to do that with their lower line of motorhomes.

We have a 2006 Vectra and love it but we've had a lot of electrical problems. RVs are very expensive to own and care for.

We LOVE this new set up-wish it had more sleeping quarters but other than that its a beauty!! We don't have one but my friend has one and we love to go with her on trips-very smooth ride...

I think this is a beautiful coach. We've had two winnies and been happy with both. I really like the 40FD floorplan. Too expensive for me I'll stick with my 2003.

I bought a 2006 Winnebago Vectra off the show room floor at RV World of Nokomis, FL June of 2007. I used it once, and it has been in the shop 5 different times totaling 7 months, and the issues are still not resolved. I am at wits end and don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We have owned our 2007 Vectra (40TD) now. We love it, but have had many problems, leaks, cracks in tile, counter, eletrical and just about everything in between. I will say the dealer and factory are always willing to do whatever it takes to make things right.

I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE DROP TEST IT IS ALSO PICTURED IN THE BOOK THE WINNEBAGO STORY 1958-1988...I HAVE ALSO TOURED THE PLANT FOUR TIMES AND TOURED AT LEAST 10 OTHERS IN MY TRAVELS....IF YOU DO THE SAME YOU WILL FIND OUT HOW MUCH BETTER AND HOW MORE ADVANCED WINEBAGO IS THAN ANYONE...

I've seen the drop test. It's the real thing...and only Winnebago has the "cahounas" to do it...because they are the REAL THING! Quality!

We own our 2nd Winnebago. We had a 1995 Vectra and now a 2005 Vectra and the quality keeps improving. We plan on owning Winnebago class A's as our travels increase. The 2008 shows the progress that we feel makes Winnebago the leader.

I had a 1997 Vectra 36WA Grand Tour. Great coach but of course they've come a long way since then. These latest Vectras look superb, particularly like the new floorplan. The interior looks very well thought out.

We've had 3 Winnebagos. The reason why we've gone for Winnies is that we traveled for more than 20 years and we've always seen them. Some of them are old and not as sparkling as the new RVs but they're still on the road. A dealer told us about the drop-test where each new model is hoisted into the air and dropped on its roof to check for structural integrity of a new design. I think Winnie are the only ones who do that. I believe they're strong and reliable because of things like this and our 3 Winnies have been strong and reliable. The new models look really nice, no real changes just progressive improvements.
