Does anyone know if there are any after market modifications to increase the towing capacity of the 24A with the Chevy engine? 3500 lbs is not going to do it for me. My hitch is rated at 5000 lbs. Could I damage the rig if towing more then the 3500 lb? Thank you,
Rich

we purchased a 2007 31c Access with the Chevy engine and Workhorse body. Love the floor plan and have no complaints about the ride. However, this was my first step up from a travel camper and was dissapointed that the sales person did not tell me the difference between the Ford chassis and the workhorse as related to towing capacity. we are limited to 3500 and the ford is rated at 5000. We are looking to buy a Honda CRV to tow since it meets the weight limitation of the workhorse chassis. Live and learn.

I have the 2007 Access 31C. It's is awesome plenty of power, mileage averages around 12 if you keep the speed at the limit. I've driven across the country just after purchase and put 9459 miles on it. Rode great, smooth and straight. I haven't towed anything yet put I can't see a problem there. I love all the storage space. When going down the road I can let go of the wheel and tracks straight as an arrow. The ride is equally as good, very smooth not bouncy or jarring at all. Even on winding roads its very sure footed. I have no complaints about the ride or performance at all. The living and sleeping area plentiful and not crowded at all. I've had 8 adults inside eating and having a good time with room to walk around.

The chevy's chassis is not rated as high as the ford's for towing. Chevy 'might' have a 1mpg bump over the ford. However, weight is weight. These things ain't light. we've got a very strongly built telstar on a ford chassis and it is very stout. Will pull a barn. Gets about 9 mpg average and 6 towing on the 460 three speed c-6 combo. Body is steel and f'glass. Very durable. Chassis is a bit rougher over the road than the chevy version. Both are good, but are you towing or not? How much you will drive it, tow with it and live in it (periods of time) are paramount in your decision. Price and length of loan etc. were second tier decisions for us, but maybe not for you. Dunno. Buy it once and buy it right. These things ain't cheap... We're actually moving up to a foretravel, and i figure we've 'lost' about $10k overall in the decision to do the class b/c thing over the last year and a half. Wish we'd rented one or two first. Still love the telstar, but our needs have changed a bit. thought they might. coulda, woulda, shoulda...

We would like to know the difference in performance between the Ford and the Chevy chassis on the 2007 Access 31C. We have just purchased one and would like to also have a Brochure covering the 2007 Access 31C. Thank You

I have the 24A and like the interior design and am very pleased with the overall workmanship. I am disappointed with the gas mileage, however. I have the E450 6.8L Super-Duty V10 Triton and getting 8.5 to 9 miles/gal without towing. I have only 3,000 miles on it and hope that the mileage will improve. My next thought is an after market add on to improve the mileage.

I'm impressed but am looking for something smaller. I'm a single man and don't see any future in an immediate expansion of my singleness

We have the 2007 model with the 26A floorplan and think it's a great arrangement. We have plenty of storage and we have the optional overhead interior storage also. This is a very nice RV with good handling.
