| Re: Why diesel costs more than gas | Unhappy Diesel driver | Part of the problem could be: The gov gave you a rebate for buying more fuel efficient vehicles. Now they are getting their rebates back by taxing the fuel you have to use in your more efficient vehicle.
We in america are our own worst enemies. We have to have big powerful engines in our big cars and trucks. My Americanized VW has a 2.0L diesel engine, whereas in Europe the same car would have a 1.4L engine, hence greater fuel savings. But after all is said and done, it really does'nt matter what the amount of fuel is used, you will still pay the same. If you use less, the price will increase, because the fuel companies and the gov. have their budgets and if you use less, it cuts into their budgets. You cannot win over big business and Government. PARK YOUR BIG GAS AND DIESEL BURNERS AND WATCH THE PRICES COME DOWN!!! It may be a little painful, but we as Americans have had to fight for our freedom and our liberties in the past, so why do we let the oil companies and our ruling fathers dictate to us high prices for energy??? | See RoTi item |

| Re: Forest River Rockwood ultra lite travel trailer | Jessica L | We bought a brand new Rockwood in 2008. As soon as we pulled off the lot the mechanic had to come out and replace a breaker. The electric part of the hot water tank doesn't work. The wallpaper is bubbled up and peeling. Only half of the electric outlets work. Then the water leaked. Then the roof leaked. Replaced both acels twice. Which left us stranded twice. The lines leaked and ruined our whole floor. Of course they do not want to fix anything due to it not being covered under warranty anymore. I am sorry but when you pay $32000 for a brand new rv u expect not to have major issues with it. This thing is a nightmare and I would never recommend buying anything made by Forest River. Rockwoods are junk!!!! I should of just lit $32000 dollars on fire because this thing is not worth anything. | See RoTi item |
| Re: Cikira Classic Cruiser travel trailer | Norm in Florida | WOW! I wish I had seen all these comments before buying my 2006 18'. I'm dealing with all the same issues, especially floor rot in front of the fridge and kitchen area. I've scoured the entire area and find no evidence of any water intrusion yet the problem worsens. I just laid down some plywood and will cover it with vinyl flooring. What a P.O.S.! | See RoTi item |

| Re: iCamp Elite small travel trailer | Mar | As was mentioned, very important to load any weight on tongue end of camper. Change the tires out to heavy duty, make sure and monitor sway bar. We cut a hole in top of cover to gas and battery, put in a round hatch from the marine store so I do not have to remove to turn on gas. Now having a problem with the gas detector so buying CO detector from Home Depot to diagnose. Also, for comfort, blow up mattress works beautiful. | See RoTi item |
| Re: Formaldehyde in RVs | Capitalkid_1 | Thank God for this site.
My family and I are in our first Mobile Home Rental. It is a 1969 Pre-Hud Home, and every bit a safety hazard as the trailers.
We did a full inspection of the home last week and found multiple code violations and health and safety code issues with it. We wrote up a report and had it sent to our property management. The results are in and we are getting let out of our lease and this house is not going to be listed for rent again by them. I am sure the Landlords are bent, but they should not be renting this hazard trap out, not for 800.00 a month anyway-Maybe 300.00 with a disclosure.
We have all had issues, mine had to due with eyesight changes that came out of nowhere, 7 day headaches, sinus issues, ect.
There is an add-on in this trailer, and one night after the Forced Air Unit Broke down we all had to move into the Add-On to keep warm with the Cadet Heater in the wall. We stayed in there for 3 days all total before we got our first load of wood and moved back into the house with the Woodstove.
My Son now refers to that room as the "Sneezing Room". My husband has asthma and has since he was a kid and therefore does not notice health changes quite as much as we do because he somewhat under the weather all the time.
However my son and I do not ordinarily have health concerns and I got the scratchy throat, low grade fever, (so did the boy) and it took about 3 days for the symptoms to go away after we moved back into the house. Another thing I noticed was the boy was not breathing right for a few days.
Quite Scary.
Fast forward a week, so we look into the option of going full timing again and buying a bigger rig. So after a few calls and a few visits to RV Dealers in town, I Googled Rv "Health and safety hazards". What I turned up was this and many other sites listed on and on and on.
I was in shock, i thought this type of carelessness was only practiced Pre-Hud.
Well, needless to say we decided right away after a day of reading that we would not be buying a new Rv now or ever.
In April of 2010 we bought a 1977 KIT Kamper for 500.00. We then turned around adn tore it down, and re-built it from the ground up with all new hardware. This thing is tight. We located all the wood paneling through Lowes certified free of Formaldehyde that came from a Manufacturer up in Washington somewhere. It was just 4-5$ more than the formaldehyde based fiber. As well, all the cabinets that went back in were replaced with wood, the skeletons of the inside and outside as well. The only thing we did not do was the birth itself.
So, now in light of this, as we know that not ANY of the RV Dealers or Companies can be trusted, we have spread out a plan to build our own travel trailer, be it 4-5 years down the road, that is what it be.
We stayed at a KOA In Corvallis Oregon for 2 months and during the time we were there, there was a couple in the next row over that had serious health issues.
The women was sweet and nice, said they had been full-timing in their 5'r for 8 years. During the 2 months we were there the Ambulance came about 11 times for the wife due to breathing problems and out of the 11 times 4 times she went to the hospital and then returned.
Funny thing about that is after 4 days out of the Rv, which is about how long she was gone each time, she began to heal and thus was released and thus returned to her RV, where she got sick again.
I am a Certified Nutritional Consultant, not thats that is any big deal, but I do know a thing or two about personal nutrition. During that whole time I would visit with her and chit chat, and as far as I could tell she was practicing good food choices. But it wasn't enough.
I never knew of the implications of the Rv Industry. If I had known then what I know now, I would have told her to move into a house. I have emailed the Camp host requesting to know if they are still booked in there, and if they are I am going to print out this chat and send it to her and her husband.
God bless everyone who speaks up. | See RoTi item |

| Re: Eggcamper small travel trailer | Matt h | Went to see the eggcamper there they are built. Jim was very helpfull, spending as much time as we needed. I thought the eggcamper was very well costructed and much roomier than the Casita. My wife and I were seriously considering buying but after a night to "sleep on it" decided to pass. Though well built, we felt it was too unfinished and too pricy. We did not like the seat cushions and mattess, and were unconvinced the all electric is the way to go. I would have had either buy a generator or retrofit my own propane system. We also felt the fridge was too small. So, 19,000.00 out the door, another 2000.00 for a generator, 300 to 500 for decent seat cusions and mattres, and then several days to cover the silver insulated, unfinished cabinet/closet interiors. If Jim could address these issues and then get the price down about 2,000.00 he would have a real winner | See RoTi item |

| Re: Roadtrek RS-Adventurous class B motorhome | Chef Schnauzer | I just looked at the newest RoadTrek - WOW - I have been toying with the idea of buying a Road Trek and Just started saving up for a healthy downpayment. I'm going to have to go used - I guess I'd hire a mechanic to test drive it for me. And the advantages of desiel - do they still exist? Seems to me the price of desiel it just never retured to it's position (relitave to unleaded). I gotta tell you, I can't wait for my first B class freedom mobile. schnaume@yahoo.com | See RoTi item |
| Re: Airstream Safari Sport travel trailer | Terry | Responding to Robbies question about a tow vehicle for a 22 ft Sport. We tow a 2010 Sport with a 2011 toyota Sienna and find it to be an excellent tow vehicle. The 6 speed tranny is great. I can lock out 6th and tow in 5th with very rare downshifts to 4th. We get 17 to 19 MPG (canadiangallons..reduce by 20% for US gallons). The van is economical to drive solo as well.
We chose the sport model as I thought it would be at the upper end of the Sienna's towing ability but I am now preparsd to move up by 1000 to 1500 pounds so will probably sell the Sport and get a larger Airstream. Anyone interested in buying my Sport can contact me at sallynterryaz@aol.com | See RoTi item |
| Re: Keystone Montana 5th wheel | Karen | We have the 2011 3400RL Montanna. We picked it up in the spring and have only been able to use it 2 months out of the summer. It has been at the company getting repaires ever since. The TV in the living room has a scratch on the screen about 2 in. long, the power button on the TV in the bedroom blinks on and off, The shower drain was tipped so we had water about an inch deep in one side that wouldn't drain, when we closed the pocket door between the bedroom and living room pipes from the shower fell back in the wall so we couldn't open the door all the way there was a leak underneath, we noticed it when the underbelly was sagging from the weight of the water. Keystone will not allow service people to travel to fix anything. They will not pay for your mileage or lot rent that you can't use. We live in our camper in the summer we are paying for a permanent site that we are not using. We know the business we bought our Montanna from is doing all they can. They have to get permission from Keystone in writing to do anything under warrenty then order parts, parts take a week. We are very dissapointed by Keystome. We have had 3 other brands before and never had a problem. They will not give us another camper. We are thinking of trading this one off. I would think twice before buying a Keystone product. | See RoTi item |
