| Re: Airstream Bambi small travel trailer | Hoover | We bought new in 99, 19 ft Bambi, initial problems solved by buying a F250 diesel instead of V6 Explorer. It pulls great hardly know its there, but hard on SUV driveline. Towed over the biggest grades into Crater Lake, Los Angeles, Down highway 1 to Santa Barbara, up to Reno and many points in between. The bed is tough to make but sleeps 2 6fters fine, the shower is a dream, can stand up tall. Would like a bit more room, inside, and a 2 compartment kitchen sink. Sounds like I've been spoilt, is pulling the box trailers different? May sell if the offer is right Hooverdawg(at)gmail(dot)com | See RoTi item |
| Re: Fuel efficient RVs | TGA | Powering a smaller size RV with say 4 diesel generators run in parallel under electronic load control should provide enough power for electric motor (or motors) propulsion. Probably would still need some battery capacity for high-current demands like freeway ramp acceleration. However, every aspect of the vehicle would have to be optimized (weight, aerodynamics, tires/wheels, etc.). Unfortunately this type of innovation doesn't seem to be important to buyers because they keep buying the same old technology year after year. | See RoTi item |
| Re: Keystone Montana fifth wheel | Mar&Bill | The faulty decals that everyone is experiencing, are Not from power- washing or sun, but from the plain& simple explanation that the company was using bd vinyl grphics as per inside information from the top, that keystone is beating around the bush, and not owning up to the truth and look after their customers to try and save their reputation!Too bad some of those NEW customrs dont get a chance to read these reviews ahead of time before buying, to get the bare truth about what is going to happen to their decals in a short while!!!! | See RoTi item |

| Re: Palomino Sabre fifth wheel | Tom Holman | I took delivery of a Palamino Sabre made by Forest River in May 2010. At delivery I identified several issues and made arrangements to return it to the dealer for repair;
Two or three cabinets had nails that missed the shelves and left pieces of the shelf missing.
Door side security light does not work.
No caulk around the shower faucet assembly.
Several areas around the shower enclosure that are not caulked.
Several windows did not shut tightly.
Screen door does not shut properly binding hinge.
Carpet in the bedroom is matted down and even after cleaning looks 10 years old
The skirt over the tires in the front main slide sticks out and looks awkward....out of alignment
Ladder hinge broken, ladder hangs funny
There is rust on the rear rack
The center channel speaker is loud static all time
the vent hood in the bathroom has to be excessively tightened to close.
The front supports are already rusty.
Chip in cabinet door after linoleum replaced
Gouge in entertainment door
Bath door does not shut properly....hinge binding
Slide seals still loose, staples not holding secure. missing adhesive tape
Electrical for furnace needs to be relocated (caused a dead short, connector now under bank of drawers)
Annie Rae cut the power wire at the AC to isolate intermittent short. Is this wiring secure in the AC?
Still smell propane near front and side compartments
Shades keep falling down.....loose?
Floor is cupped between refrigerator and stove....floor dips down
Stairs into bed/bath area loose and not installed properly.
Trim at bottom left side of main slide pulling off
Most of these items were to be repaired at the end of camping season 2010. The first camping trip after buying the coach I could not get the rear stabilizers to go down. They were jammed up, I had to pry down on them while someone held the button.
The second trip, I went to turn on the refrigerator the day before our and it wouldn't turn on. The dealer tried to fix it the next morning and found the general location and told me it was a dead short. It was currently working and they couldn't find the problem. We picked up the coach, went to the campground when I extended the main slide the slide seal ripped right off the wall and was hanging outside of the coach. The slide also jammed halfway out. I had to push the slide while someone pressed the button. Then I tried to turn on the refrigerator and it would not work along with the air conditioner and the furnace. I had to remove the furnace grate under the stove and found the power wire for the heater was laying against the sheet metal of the furnace shorting out. I had to repair the furnace wiring myself.
The dealer took my camper to the Forest River plant in Indiana. They had it for a week and they only fixed the slide seal and the ripped linoleum. They replaced the linoleum and gave me an upgrade to an optional linoleum pattern for free. I had asked how much it would cost for the upgrade, nobody called me and they just did the upgrade.
The third trip out, I set the camper up, leveled it, and deployed the main slide and it was jammed. Had to push on the slide while someone activated the button. Then I cut my toe on a staple where the carpet transitions to linoleum. They left the old staples loose in the carpet. We found over two dozen staples. Then I went outside finished setting up, turned on the water. A few minutes later I heard water running. I raced into the camper thinking the kitchen sink was running all over the sink cover....nope, went to bathroom and it was flooding. Forest River removed the toilet to replace the linoleum and cross threaded the water line on the toilet. They obviously did not pressure test the system after they were done.
Three trips two major failures, one minor but frustrating problem. I was not angry, I was very patient the dealer praised me for being so nice about the issues. But, when I just got the camper back from Forest River and I cut my foot because they left the old staples, and my toilet flooded the bathroom to the point water was running out of the bottom of the coach, I had had enough. The dealer told me to call Forest River Service manager and gave me the number. I told him I needed someone to come out to the campground to fix the leaking toilet that night, it was 4:00 P.M. at the time of the call. instead of saying let me see what I can do, he said I don't think that will happen. Then I said if it isn't taken care of he needs to send someone out to pick up the camper and refund my money. He then said, that definitely isn't going to happen. I then called him an a-hole and hung up. I wasn't calling because something broke, I was calling because they fixed one item and sent it back to me in worse condition than when I sent it to them.
Going back and forth with Sam Lengricth he made it seem like he was going to repair my coach and then when I added to the list he got cocky and told me the only reason they replaced the linoleum was as a favor to me to throw me an olive branch for my troubles. They changed the linoleum because it was ripped at the heat vent. I asked for a price to upgrade the linoleum since they had to change it anyway. I never asked for anything free, I was prepared to pay for. I didn't ask for anything free then or now.
I just want a competent person from Forest River to either fix my coach or refund my money. After several emails back and forth the dealer I bought it from and I believe he never intended to fix the coach. Therefore at this point I want a full refund, If not I will start a law suit against Forest River.

| 2009 Salem 312QBBS | Jeff & Patricia Goodin | We purchased this camper new in July 2008. Within a few weeks we had to take it back to the dealer for some minor repairs: leak under bathroom sink, short in bathroom light switch, panel in shower loose, caulking around kitchen sink cracking, tv/stereo system quit working, antenna lever fell out of top of ceiling and some of the blinds on the windows hang loose because hooks were mounted down too far on wall for blinds to hook. All of these things were repaired except for the blinds which are still the same way to this day. A few weeks ago, we noticed bubbles on the outside of the camper in the side on the front. We took camper back to dealer. We were told that the camper was out of warranty and that the bubbles were caused from water damage. We were also told that it was from our neglect by not having the roof resealed within 6 months as needed as written in owners manual. We were not told this when we purchased the camper. We paid thousands of dollars for this beautiful camper and are sick about its outside appearance. A camper repairman (that has worked for Coachman & Forest River for several years)looked at the camper and told us it was not water damage because there was no evidence any where else inside or outside of a leak. He said it was where the glue that was used in the side at the manufacturer was coming a loose. We feel like Forest River should be responsible for total repair to our camper. This has definantly influenced our recommendation to anyone else about buying a Forest River camper. | See RoTi item |
| Re: Heartland North Trail travel trailer | Disappointed in NJ | Bought the 31QBS in May'09 and have had a Leak in the slide since I drove it home. The dealer has done everything to find it including using the sealtech machine. I've spent many hours myself and just can't seem to fiqure it out. All seams are sealed well and have been resealed and the unit still leaks. Heartland refered me to another dealer to have a new set of eyes take a look however they will not authorize any repairs or labor! I offered to drive the unit back to the manufactoring plant and they told me they are not equiped to do any repairs. Their plant is for manufactoring only and all repairs need to be completed by the dealer. My dealer has been more than willing to work with me but outside of tearing down the entire slide to find where this leak is coming from they have tried everything. Over all we love this unit but not sure how long we will keep it. The leak is sure to cause structural damage soon. If your thinking about buying one I would not recommend a Heartland...Buy from a larger manufactor who will stand behind their product. | See RoTi item |
| Re: Gulf Stream Visa travel trailer | Ric | Saw this TT at an RV show and it is impressive. There is a lot of value packed into 3500# towable.
I had two concerns. One, there are too many pipes and wires strung along the underside; seems like running over a thrown retread could do a great deal of damage and after looking at it a bit I figured I could probably crawl under there and get most of it locked into a safer position. Two, the septic drain is immediately behind the left wheel suspended maybe 6 inches above the ground. Hit one pot hole and the valve and hookup are gone and the tank contents and spraying all over.
If I end up buying this one, and it is one of the top two choices, I would immediately take it to a metal fabricator and have a cage welded on the frame around the septic connect. | See RoTi item |

| Re: Airstream Safari Sport travel trailer | Brutus | My masters just bought a used Safari Sport 17 in March 2010, and they absolutely love it! It's easily towable by their V6 Jeep, and looks stunning. It's a purebred, you know. The Safari Sport is Airstream's 'more European' model. The Italian stove and sink in the kitchen are functional and beautiful; the interior - aluminum, gray upholtery, and light coloured wood - is sleek and modern, and the L-shaped lounge in place of the American dinette is cozy. Needless to say, I'm not allowed on the couch if I have rolled around in the mud! After having shopped around and seen a lot of small trailers with ugly interiors - even a dog finds the 'country kitchen' look unappealing - my masters do not regret for a moment buying it. It's a cool toy, for sure, and a design icon to boot! Sure, it gets a lot of attention, especially up here in Ontario where they are as rare as a Norwegian Lundehund. Mr. Beach (see below) will save money not buying this trailer, but when my masters are ready to upgrade to another Airstream they know that the Safari Sport will fetch a great resale price. Two paws up! | See RoTi item |
