REDUCING FORMALDEHYDE IN RVS

Seriously Wool introduces the "Safety Blanket"
Seriously Wool logo  2008 RoTi Press Release

Seriously Wool, LLC - based in Chatsworth GA (link to website below) - has created a "safety blanket" targeted at the RV industry.

There are many benefits, but the one we're going to discuss here is its claimed ability to absorb formaldehyde from an RV interior.  Seriously Wool says it can be used as a "means of cleaning up the contaminated air that occurs in manufactured homes, campers and RVs when formaldehyde is released from the building materials."

Seriously Wool also say that "formaldehyde is attracted to wool like a magnet.  Once the formaldehyde makes contact with the wool it is made inactive and will not be released later  ...  One safety blanket can absorb more formaldehyde than any RV could ever give off gas ..."

Simply Wool sent RoTi an impressive sample blanket together with convincing research documentation.  We certainly hope that our readers will try the product and give us their feedback.

It sounds so simple and we know that very many of our readers are worried about this problem - why not give it a try?  Comments or questions? - add your input below.

Black HawkBeen trying to find all symptons of formaldehyde poisioning I know there must be more than breathing. My travling partner has been very ill since we bought this new 5th wheel. Made by pilgrim. Could this be the cause?
Karen HThe wool has helped with the formaldehyde fumes in our trailer. Although there is still a slightly detectable odor, I no longer develop sneezing, upper respiratory congestion, swelling of nasal passages, eyes burning, etc. I am now enjoying my RV. I bought 2 blankets and the air filter for a 27 foot RV.
Kathy KI bought a new travel trailer three seasons ago. We have been unable to get the smell out and I can't go there at all because I have breathing problems. My husband goes about 2 nights a month and says even with windows open and air running his eyes still burn. I am not going to settle for being stuck with a unit I can't use. Anyone with suggestions? I am going to write gov. of Indiana where I live and state where unit was built.
Terry BrakeI read that a really bad thing about formaldehyde is that you can become sensitized to it if you're exposed enough. It's really important that the RV is properly aired out and the dealer should do that. I think when you're buying a new rv you should be really careful about how it smells.
PeterI am going all natural and taking my sheep with me on all RV trips.
Charles KI think if everyone ordering a trailer made the dealers and manufacturers aware that we wanted as far as possible natural wood products or products made without resins, it would cause a big reaction in the industry. We need more education for consumers and more forums like RoTi where people give their opinions. This is a great product that I will definitely buy to reduce any possible formaldehyde problems with my current 2 years old RV. I will not buy a new RV however until I'm sure that formaldehyde problems have been eliminated.
