New "green RV" at Florida RV supershow

A newly outfitted, eco-friendly RV is coming to Tampa as part of the Largest RV Show in the Country, the 2009 Florida RV SuperShow. Brian Brawdy brings his "Wonder Explore Believe" Tour and his "Green" RV to the Florida State Fairgrounds.

The Green RV uses six solar panels and a wind turbine. It also captures and stores rainwater for use later as fresh, sanitary water. The RV has everything found in today's homes: complete kitchen, queen-sized bed, full bath and entertainment center..

At first glance, it may seem RVing is hard on the environment. "It's not," says Brawdy. "I'm sharing my Green RV to make this point." Brawdy also says that he already sees other RVers at local campgrounds doing a big part to conserve water and electricity, recycle and buy paper items over plastic. "We can all do a little more. And a little from all of us is all it takes," says Brawdy. Brawdy, 47, grew up in Syracuse, N.Y., where he was a police officer for nine years. Referred to as an 'Outdoor Adventure Expert,' 'Environmental Pioneer' and 'Eco-RVer' he has inspired audiences during appearances on Good Morning America, Fox News, CNN, CBS Early News, ABC, CBS and FOX.

The 2009 Florida SuperShow dates are Wednesday, January 14 - Sunday, January 18, 2009.

Jose HermandWe use very little energy full-timing. In a house we used more. We only heat and cool our little space and we have 2 solar panels. We move about 6 times in a year traveling about 6000 miles total and use less gas in total than most commuters. Our toad is a jeep and gets 26 mpg. We use less water than an average house and have no irrigation to supply.
ConcernedWhen is it all going to happen? Why don't new RVs have more environmentally friendly features?
rt76I think totally green is the way forward and I wish RV manufacturers would start to think that way. Where are the hybrid RVs and environmentally friendly materials?
Walter SRVs also should improve fuel economy. Hybrid and fuel cell tech should be in the forefront. Incorporating hybrid technology would be very interesting and save on energy as well as improve the RV image with respect to the environment. Glad to see any developments
