THEY'RE ALL TALKING ABOUT "GOING GREEN"

Expect big changes with RVs in the years to come

Big changes are coming ... manufacturers are working on new technologies.  At a new conference (Chicago on September 15-16, 2008,) fleet managers with talk with experts about green technologies such as: Hybrids, Ethanol, Propane, Biodiesel, CNG, Plug-in Hybrids, All-Electric vehicles, and Hydrogen. Participants will discuss with their peers and industry experts the difference between what's really working and what's window dressing.

Going green isn't just about saving the environment; it's doing so within the constraints of your fleet budget and limited product availability.

The pressure on U.S. fleets to become green will grow even greater in the coming years. There are legislative pressures to start a new cap and trade program to limit carbon output by all drivers.  New manufacturer technologies are being developed at breakneck speed, but there is so much misinformation that fleet managers can't find the truth.  In Chicago on September 15-16, 2008 Bobit Business Media, have put together this new two-day conference for fleet professionals

Fleet managers from all over the country will learn what manufacturers have planned for the future of fuel technology

The big changes being planned for engine, chassis and trucks will inevitably have a big effect on the RV industry.  RoTi will keep you advised of developments.  Add your comments below ..

Pro Green - Go CleanThe organic/green industry is growing by approximately 20-25% a year (you can research it on the internet) because we don't want to be made ill by harmful chemicals, nor do we wish to destroy our environment, and we are making healthier choices for ourselves and our families across the board. One of the reasons we go RVing, I believe, is to get out into the fresh air in free open spaces. Why then would we choose (if we knew) a toxic environment in the very vehicle we use to get to these pristine healthy (rapidly disappearing) locations? RV sales may be slow at the moment, because of the high price of fuel, but would that be the case if we had cost effective alternative fuel vehicles to choose from? It's time for RV manufacturers to wake up and smell the fresh air and make vehicles that support HEALTH - ours and the Earth's! What do you think?
TerryI think RVs should have more solar power. I have a small solar panel on my Fleetwood but it could be much bigger. It's difficult and expensive to retrofit these but the manufacturer could and should build much bigger panels in when new.
JoelAs an owner operator of an RV dealership(outofdoorsmart.com) I've tried for years to incorporate a "green theme" into our business operation. Giving away trees and promoting solar, biodegradeable chemicals, etc. I think the main problem has been that it wasn't mainstream enough, so the product demand and cost effectiveness hasn't been high enough. We do continue to carry the most efficient towable products, and this is the main reason i'm not a new motorhome dealer. I struggle everyday to find ways we can promote our environment, yet keep my family owned business thriving. When a manufacturer commits to a compact MH that consumes biodiesel, just believe i'll be one of the dealers calling them.
ConcernedWhen is it all going to happen? Why don't new RVs have more environmentally friendly features?
rt76I think totally green is the way forward and I wish RV manufacturers would start to think that way. Where are the hybrid RVs and environmentally friendly materials?
