DESPITE THE ECONOMY - "IT'S ALL ABOUT FUN"

RVing continues to be very popular ...
National Park campgrounds busy and RV shows continue to be attractive to manufacturers

According to an AP article, more than 1.1 million RVs visited National Park Service campgrounds through the first seven months of this year. The numbers are down about 6 percent from the same period last year. July and August are the busiest months for RV camping and many campers are out during the fall, according to the National Park Service.

Talk of recession and high fuel prices is not putting off manufacturers from attending RV shows either. According to an RVIA press release, eight hundred thousand square feet of exhibit space has already been assigned to RV manufacturers and suppliers at RVIA’s 56th Annual California RV show, the largest consumer show on the West Coast.

RVIA's Board of Directors has approved a half million dollar retail advertising budget to draw attendees to this year's show. RVIA's show committee is working closely with their PR and advertising agency to ensure the advertising dollar reaches the broadest possible audience of RV owners and potential owners. Increased use of the Internet along with more traditional media will help achieve this goal

The “Fairplex,” Los Angeles County’s Fair and Exposition building in Pomona, California, will once again host manufacturers and suppliers displaying the latest in RVs, products, and accessories during the ten-day event October 10-19.

This year's show theme is 'It's All About Fun' and highlights that with an RV you take your resort with you. Emphasis will be given to the fact that RVing is still less expensive than air travel and staying in hotels and provides quality family time. The diversity of product that attendees can only see at the show will also be featured.

George KentIt's true that some areas are affected more than others. We did a long trip and found that the parks near big cities were full and the parks in the middle of nowhere were almost empty. People are not traveling so much.
Marie KenningRVing is better and cheaper than flying and staying in hotels and we prefer sleeping in our own bed. We travel about 6000 miles a year and fuel price increases mean, at the most, an extra $1000 per year. It's a lot of money but not enough to effect our lifestyle which we love and wouldn't change.
RosemaryIs RVing a real possibility with fuel prices as they are? We need some sort of alternative power for RVs or if prices continue to rise, who will be able to afford it?
Kosey48Fuel prices are going down. Is this temporary before they go up again? Why are they going down, I watch tv and nobody really explains it.
GeorgeThe smart RV family knows if fuel prices go up we go on shorter trips & we stay longer. Buying a fiver is a smart thing my coach is my home!
