Nothing describes autumn's bounty better than the amazing palette of oranges, reds and golds against lush evergreens. From the vibrant landscapes and the cool, crisp air to the tantalizing smells of hot cider and kettle corn, fall in Chattanooga offers a new season of enjoyment to spend together with your loved ones.

Chattanooga offers breathtaking fall scenery, world-class attractions, numerous hotels, great restaurants, live entertainment, art galleries, shopping and plenty of outdoor adventure. Chattanooga’s safe and pedestrian friendly downtown offers a free electric shuttle and boasts a newly revitalized riverfront with attractions, plenty of open green space, a 13-mile paved Riverwalk and live musical events.

Chattanooga’s fall events include the Downtown Gallery Hop, Sept. 8, a free event that allows you to experience the artwork in Chattanooga's 15 downtown galleries and 14 artist studios and the Three Sisters Festival, Oct. 5-6, a free bluegrass festival on the Chattanooga Riverfront which features performances by the Del McCoury Band and Nashville Bluegrass Band.

Chattanooga is less than a two-hour drive from Nashville, Knoxville, Atlanta, Huntsville and Birmingham. Travel close to home so you have more time to unwind and explore the sights, smells and sounds of fall.

Rock City Gardens' Lover's Leap provides an amazing view of nature's majestic display of fall colors, with a legendary view of seven states. Also, view the colors along the 4,100-foot walking trail of over 400 native plants and trees.

On the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, the fall colors are "through the roof" when you ride straight up the side of Lookout Mountain on "America's Most Amazing Mile."

Sail downstream aboard the Southern Belle Riverboat to see the fall colors through the spectacular Tennessee River Gorge. The color cruises will open your eyes to an amazing marvel of colorful landscapes, wildlife and mountains.

At the Tennessee Valley Railroad, viewing the fall foliage by train offers the advantage of seeing rolling vistas through panoramic windows. The 100-mile round trip Autumn Leaf Special rail excursions take you from Chattanooga to Summerville, Ga. and include a dining car luncheon.

Chattanooga’s outdoors offer a variety of possibilities to see the fall colors via water, land or air. Raft or kayak on the Tennessee River Blueway; hike or bike along the 13-mile paved Riverwalk or along mountain trails; or soar 2,000 feet in the air on a hang glider to experience the most adventurous way to see the colors.

Drive the Lookout Mountain Scenic Parkway to find waterfalls, canyons, brow vistas, state and national parks, and many more natural wonders along the 100 picturesque miles.

Janice Hopper :   We did the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway and really enjoyed it. We went this early October and fall colors were spectacular. I can understand the part where they say this is America's most amazing mile. $12 for the round trip ticket and well worth it.
