The
Florida
RV
Super
Show
is
being
held
at
the
Florida
State
Fairgrounds
starting
today,
Wednesday,
January
16
through
Sunday,
January

In
this
article
we
give
some
of
the
trends,
review
some
of
the
RVs,
and
comment
about
the
significance
of
the
show
in
the
present
economic
climate.
Lance
Wilson,
executive
director
of
the
Florida
RV
Trade
Association
is
reported
to
say
that
"because
sales
are
largely
based
on
disposable
income,
RV
figures
are
considered
a
leading-edge
economic
indicator."
"The
industry
really
looks
to
this
show
as
a
benchmark
for
the
rest
of
the
year,"
Wilson
said.
"If
sales
are
good,
if
attitudes
are
good,
that
suggests
what's
going
to
happen
for
the
rest
of
the
year."
On
display
are
more
than
1,300
RVs
from
"pop
ups"
to
top
of
the
line
luxury
coaches.
There you can find every type of RV and camper you can imagine and in every price range.
Perhaps
the
highest
cost
coach
on
display
is
a
Marathon
coach
reportedly
costing
more
than
$2
million.
(See
RoTi
review
of
the
quad-slide
Marathon.) There
are
more than 350 booths representing campgrounds, finance & insurance companies, supplies & accessories.
2
of
the
trends
reported
from
the
Tampa
show:
On
the
economical
side,
shoppers
can
enjoy
a
working
kitchen
with
mini-fridge,
dinette,
bathroom,
queen
bed,
flat-screen
TV,
and
iPod-based
music
system
all
in
the
70-square-foot
iCamp.
(See
RoTi
review
of
the
iCamp.)

We've made the decision not to attend the Tampa RV show. We were intending to go but with diesel at 3.60 a gallon and an Rv getting 6 mpg I don't think the almost 2000 miles trip is worth the expense. The reviews are good and make me want to go even more but maybe next year.

My husband and I were at the show on the opening day and it really was a good experience. The entertainment was good apart from the RVs on display. They had clowns, Barbershop Quartets, BagPipe Bands, and a lot of other stuff. We went to one of the seminars “Choosing an RV” that was supposed to help you decide which RV is right for you. It was good. The RV display was awesome. Really liked many of the class A's but we're really looking for a class C. Didn't buy but got ideas.
