Re: Overnighting at WalMartBillWhile traveling, an occasional overnight stop at a Wal-mart has cost $100. But, we all need to buy stuff. It's always a quick "in and out" Very helpful
Re: Overnighting at WalMartLYLAHDOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY WALMARTS WITH FREE RV PARKING ON I-40 & I-25 GOING EAST & NORTH THROUGH NEW MEXICO? ALBUQUERQUE IS ABOUT THE LARGEST CITY ON A TRIP WE'RE PLANNING
Male looking for travel partnerBob I am a single 54 year old guy who would love to find a female partner to travel with. Shared cost and with hope of long term relationship. I would like to travel across the USA and Canada. No time limit. Retired. Please send picture to me and that will get you mine. Must be of a happy sprit. Not interested in a partner that does drugs, smokes, or is a heavy drinker. I have the motor home already. I also have Shitzu pet. Love to hear from you. mebob@telus.net
No Walmart overnighting - Orlando, FloridaBigSexyMammaWow! Well, I happen to be a full time RVer and I live and work in Orlando, Florida and the two Walmarts we have here one on Kirkman Rd and one on Sandlake Rd absolutely DO NOT allow any overnight RV stays. It is clearly posted NO OVERNIGHT PARKING FOR RVs. Since I read about how walmart "loves RVer's" I decided to try my luck and was promply told by security that I would be trespassed if I were not to move immediately and this was after I had just spent $100 in groceries and another $100 in gas at their lousy super store! As fas as I'm concerned, they SUCK!
Re: Overnighting at WalMartHezyI am producing a DVD on RVers who overnight a Wal-Mart stores. If you are in or will be near Roseville to Auburn, California area this month, June, please email me hezy@suddenlink.net. This DVD is coming soon to the RVbookstore.com.
Re: Overnighting at WalMartSteveis there a limit to how long you can stay at a wal-mart? I'm currently converting a bus into an RV and looking for a place to stay locally.
Need travel-mateHeleneApril 15, 2009 - Reply to valid email address tentmakertrucker@gmail.com - I'm a tall, slim American who can live/work in Canada or USA since 1980. I have lived on the road & love it. No vehicle, need travel-mate who likes a quiet small dog. I stay away from casinos, do not smoke, and like ALL CHURCHES (almost). Prefer small, quiet routes, away from Walmart. Love used book stores, museums, simple cooking with lots of fruits/veggies. Mary Poppins type. Drive to East Coast and pick us up!
Re: Overnighting at WalMartChrisReally like staying at walmart but it's not free. we always spend a lot in the store.
Wal-Mart - always a great experiencecbjamesMy wife and I have been RVing for a little over a year. We have stayed at Wal-Marts all over Texas and New Mexico. Always been a great experience. We have even started taking pictures of each Wal-mart for our travel logs.
Re: Overnighting at WalMarttewgraywolvesCan anyone tell me what kind of wax should be used on the fiberglass sides of the coach. We were told there is nothing we can do to make the sides shine. We have tried different waxes and it still comes out cloudy.
Re: Supreme Court Justice "puts up in Wal-Mart parking lots"PajaroGREAT! And just one more reason to spend my nickle at Walmart.
Re: Overnighting at WalMartjohn Unfortunately HOAs are a necessity nowadays if you want to protect your home investment at all It's a proven fact----HOAs do NOT protect your property values. I live in a HOA development Same houses built by the same developer in the next development but without a HOA are selling for 30% more.
Re: The first hybrid-electric Class A motorhome chassisLori RVI am thrilled that the RV industry is getting with the need to economize, allowing those of us who want to live on the road the opportunity to do so without being tied to high fuel prices and guilt over the destruction of the planet.
Re: Overnighting at WalMartLARRYHI MY NAME IS LARRY HAHN IM PRES. OF A CLUB CALLED WAL-MART BOUND. I HAVE OVER 1700 MEMBERS. WALMART LOVES US THEY SAY WE SPEND OVER 100 BUCKS A NIGHT AT A SUPER WALMART. WALMART IS WONDERFUL TO US.
Re: Overnighting at WalMartSteveJust wondering if anyone knows if there are any WalMarts on I-95 in NC or SC for overnight parking? I will be going down in March from NJ to FL Thanks
Re: Overnighting at WalMartLewHi, Is there a website or book out that tell you what Walmarts you can stay at and those you cannot? Thanks
Re: Overnighting at WalMartJulie PI've been RVing for more than 20 years and never had a problem. We've stayed at walmarts, truckstops, casinos and parking lots. 24 hour Walmarts are particularly safe with cameras and security people.
Overnighting at WalmartSafety firstI love staying overnight at Walmart. I think people who are critical are missing the point. We can buy everything we need and sleep in safety knowing that Walmart always has security cameras and security staff. When we arrive at our destination we stay at an RV park of course, but on our way to our destination you can't beat overnighting at Walmart.
Hybrid power for RVs - school bus exampleTiretrampStop hauling children within two miles of school and reduce bus cost another 50%. Plug into recharge, what a joke. What is wrong on inboard charging and solar? Gov and Power conpanies are screaming about over using electric. Where is the electric going to come from?
Route 550Mad JayhawkStaying at walmart? Just two words that strike fear into the heart of any Class A driver - ROUTE 550. (Or maybe that is 4 words.) Big time scary.
Never overnighted at WalMartjagcoI have never overnighted at WalMart, as we are presently only weekend campers, but see people doing it all the time and we will certainly be doing it when we go full time. I spend loads of money at WalMart and don't see it as a problem for catching a few winks.
Re: Overnighting at WalMartSeajay CecilOvernighting at Wally World. Every time I park at Wal Mart we spend between 50 and 100 dollars. Anyone that thinks the parking is 'free' doesent know my wife. Yes we stay at Wal Mart some of the time. Our trips usually last from 2 to four months and there are times we are 'on the road' and just need a place to park for the night. We stop at Wal Mart. We are self contained and we do not leave a mess. We do not use our slides or our awnings. We usually pull into the back protion of the parking lot, I walk the dogs,(and pick up after them) and my wife goes shopping. I can not remember one time that she did not come back with a shopping cart full of 'bargins'. She usually spends at least 50 dollars and one trip resulted in a gold and diamond ring for seven hundred dollars. I say ''use it but dont abuse it'' Wal Mart is a good deal for them and us also...
OK to overnight - WalMart national policyWilliam JamesThe WalMart national policy is to allow RVers to overnight. Wal-Mart figures out how to use every inch of it's store to get the most sales and profit. This extends to the parking lot. The far end of the parking lot is seen as an under-used asset so encouraging RVers to park there makes good sales sense. I rang WalMart and they agreed that their national policy was to welcome RVers and any notices to stop RVers were only put up if local authorities demanded it.
Re: RVing and the economyGeorge KentIt's true that some areas are affected more than others. We did a long trip and found that the parks near big cities were full and the parks in the middle of nowhere were almost empty. People are not traveling so much.
Always feel safe at WalmartBearmanWe have stayed at many Walmarts in the N.W. & have always felt safe. A lot of 24 hour stores have outside night security driving around. When I ask the manager for permission to stay the night they usually volunteer if they have security. If I see a vehicle that is the security person I usually introduce myself. They seem to check on you more often with drive bys. When we pass back through they always remember you & stop to see how you are doing. Never in all my travels have I ever had a security issue or felt unsafe at a Walmart. Not true in some campgrounds though!
RE: Walmart in Florida tropical36It's not the Walmarts in Florida, it's the counties and cities that have ordinances against overnight parking in public parking lots. Not sure of the reasons behind it all.
Forum inputScapeGoat SanctuarySeems like a great idea to me. I like the Sleepy Pod too. Works as a bed at home and a carseat on the road. But the price....whew!! over $300. I'll wait till they sell a clone of it in Walmart!
Walmart more heart then KOA.TonyTo Whom It may Concern , sent to KOA head Office. My Family and I have been Rving since around 1980, and we have been all over the States and Canada , staying around 80% at your KOA. We had a KOA Membership , but we decided that at this point in time , not to renew it for we feel that most of your standards have gone down and your fees have been going unreasonably high. I’m now writing this Complaint, just to show you that one of your Camps are “ all money, not Family concerned “ . For the Third time we stayed at your Niagara Falls Koa, Grand island USA, and we will never stay there again, for we feel that this Corp. Site is not for my Family. On June 29 we stayed overnight after a day at Fantasy Island, and the next day we found that our 8 year old had developed a high fever so he had to stay in bed. I went to the Office and asked if we could have a check-out for 12:00 instead of 11:00 am. This cold and rude Female, after hearing Why? We needed this extension said in her Corp. Military training, and I quote “I will give you 15 minutes after 11:00, and after that you will have to pay an extra $10.00 to stay any longer only until one". Never in my years of Rving have we paid any extra time, this is strictly Corp. garbage, with no concern for the people who are there, then you call it Family Camping. It's not because I didn’t have the $10.00, it's because I will not be robbed and held ransom. We stayed only over night, we made our own bed, used our towels, cleaned up our floors and used our own toilet paper, and we did not use any of your facilities except on our site. For this we paid a total of $62.00, and you want more, I'm sure that I could find a Hotel for less. We could have stayed in Walmat (for we are fully self-contained) for free just down the road, and we would not of been asked to move off the lot. In conclusion I did meet with the Manager, but I was not impressed , same Corp. attitude, although she did say she would wave the $10.00 fee, it was too late I was off the lot and moved over to the Walmart parking lot, where my Son rested there, until we started again. All I can say now is I can see a big attitude change in your KOA as we travel, you guys have been slowly changing, In the not so high tourist, areas your sales are down, some internet sites (like ROTI) now have a lot of complaints about your so called Family Camping. I for one will not EVER go to that Site again , and I will prefer to find now other alterative sites to camp, for your KOA sign now has a bad taste in my mouth.
RE: Why I don't stay at WalmartRonnie HaighMy experiences overniting at walmart have been very good. You say that walmart are usually located in areas of a city that are not the safest but I've stayed at walmarts at least a few times every year for more than 20 years and never had a problem. Maybe I'm lucky or you are too cautious.
RE: Walmart in FloridaMrs Hannah The walmart in Lake City, FL off of I-75 will allow you to camp there.
RE: Walmart in FloridaTracylaud83Wal-Mart in Ocala, Florida, on Hwy 200. 3 or 4 RV's almost everynight. No Slides Allowed, and don't park until after 6pm. I've lived here 2 years now, and have never seen a RV chased away. (My wife works there, thats why I noticed.)
Overnight parking WalMarts - TennesseeScapeGoat SanctuaryLebanon, Tn allows parking overnight. About 30 miles east of Nashville
RE: Why I don't stay at WalmartLARRY HAHNYOU ARE ALL GOOFED UP THINKING WALMART IS UNSAFE. IT IS THE SAFEST PLACE TO SLEEP ONE NIGHT AT A TIME. FULL TIME GUARDS UNDER CAMERAS ALL THE TIME. WAL MART LOVES US TO SLEEP AT THEIR STORES. LARRY HAHN NATIONAL PRES OF WAM-MART BOUND TRAVEL CLUB
Why I don't stay at WalmartJimConsider this, Walmarts are often times located in areas of a city that are not the safest. I do not understand camping on a blacktop with traffic noise. You can stay in an RV park with full amenities for $25 a night. You just have to look in Trailer Life. Walmart is not a campground! Everyone says they just sleep there. That is BS. I see people set up camp there and that should be against the law. A couple of years ago a man shot an intruder entering his rig in front of his wife and 2 daughters with a shotgun I believe. What a good way to save 25 bucks. Scarred for life. Just my 2 cents, I have been RVing for 20 years and never stayed at Walmart.
RE: US Supreme court Bans restrictions on RV ParkingRugSuckerNo, this is the desision that is the most current. As a mater of fact in searching the internet there is a city council that has been given this case to use as a source to form their city ordinances.
RE: List of Walmarts that permit overnight parkingLARRY HAHN PRES. WAL-MART BOUNDHI THE BEST WAY TO CUT FUEL COST IS STAY TWO MORE NIGHT A WEEK AT WALMART. WE DONT CAMP AT WALMART WE JUST SLEEP AND WALMART LOVES US. JUDGE CLARENCE THOMAS LOVES SLEEPING AT WALMARTS AND HE SAYS HE MEETS THE BEST PEOPLE THERE THANKS LARRY HAHN
RE: List of Walmarts that permit overnight parkingTracyI know that the Wal-mart in Perry Georgia allows overnight parking. In fact there is almost always one or more campers in there. Also the Wal-mart in Brewer Maine.
RE: US Supreme court Bans restrictions on RV ParkingKeithIs it possible that the actual decision does not support the conclusion which you have reached concerning parking? You might want to read it to make sure it does, in fact, support your case. Also, is it possible that additional rulings in the last 30 years have struck this ruling down, or modified it so that it does not have the force which it initially had? Cheers, Keith
RE: Walmart cracking down in my areaMichael... watch out whatyou wish for, in the 30's during the depression alot of people were forced to sleep where ever they could, it's not too far off, it could happen agian, where would you sleep? yes, i live in a rv and work when and where i can, and sure i'd rather pay to park, but can't afford it sometimes............
RE: RVs should not be parked in residential driveways or yardsMichaelIt should not matter where you live, if you can park a car there you should be able to park your rv, they have a lic. and you do pay taxes on them.
