How important is the cost of an RV park?  The poll detailed below puts this into perspective.  It asked:
"How much influence does the cost of the camp have on your selection?"

Using a scale of  0 = not important and 5 = VERY important, the average answer was 3.4. As a comparison, the following seems to show that a website and a reservation system are seen as more important. The spacing between the RVs is seen as very much more important, and giving the camp a rating more important still:

Influence of cost on selection 3.4
How important is it that a camp should have a website 3.7
How important to be able to book in advance 3.9
How important is the spacing between RV's? 4.4
How important is to be able to give your opinions? 4.5

How important is........?
1. How important is it that a camp should have a website that you can visit before deciding to go there? 0 = not important
5 = VERY important
Average answer to date = 3.7
2. How much influence does the cost of the camp have on your selection? 0 = not important
5 = VERY important
Average answer to date = 3.3
3. Many camps say "no reservations". How important is it for the camper to be able to book in advance? 0 = not important
5 = VERY important
Average answer to date = 3.9
4. Most camps can not afford to have 24 hour check-in. How important is it that you should be able to check in anytime - including after normal office hours? 0 = not important
5 = VERY important
Average answer to date = 2.7
5. It has been suggested to roamingtimes by a campowner that he/she is considering an automated check-in system. A greeter would come to your rig with a hand-held computer registering and giving you directions. How much of an improvement would this be over the usual system? 0 = not important
5 = VERY important
Average answer to date = 2.2
6. How important is the spacing between RV's 0 = not important
5 = VERY important
Average answer to date = 4.4
7. If a ratings form is available to hand in when you are leaving, would you normally bother to fill this out? Yes    84%   No     16%
8. How important is it to be able to give your opinions? 0 = not important
5 = VERY important
Average answer to date = 4.5
9. If you do give your opinions, are you generally honest? Yes     97%   No       3%

The point about 'giving your opinions' is particularly interesting.  This point is covered in other Roaming Times' polls - generally people like the idea of this.  Although 84% say they would bother to hand in a ratings form, other Roaming Times' research shows that the number who actually do is much less than this.  Why?  In short, they don't believe the camp will be influenced by their opinion!

Thank you to those who took part.
