Dreaming of warmer days - winter choices

We asked:
"Dream a little if it helps - you're traveling in your RV - which state would you choose to spend your winter if you could only stay in one ...."

The most popular states:
Arizona 30% of the voters
Florida 24%, New Mexico 8%, California 7%, Texas 7%.

The climate of course, was the main reason for the popularity of Arizona - "Guaranteed sunshine" was a common comment.  But there was more than this -  the following is a representative comment (this from Dick and Barb):
"This state has it all. Many National Parks, deserts (high and low), mountains, rock formations of all types and sizes and the Grand Canyon. Where would we stay? Along the Colorado River. From Bullhead City south, it is warm enough for the winter months. There are remote sites if you like and enough shopping for things we have to have."

Phoenix, Mesa, Tucson, Yuma and Apache Junction were mentioned very often in comments, and Sedona and the Grand Canyon were often mentioned as favorite places to see.

Florida was attractive to many - the water and fishing were mentioned often.  South Florida was particularly mentioned - Key West and the Keys.  St. Augustine in the north was also popular.  But the beaches were a main attraction - particular places mentioned included Port Charlotte, Vero Beach and Destin.

Mexico was also a popular selection - almost 7% of the votes and mentioned in comments many times.

Summer Choices

"Which would be your first choice of the state to spend your summer  ........"

For summer destinations, most states were mentioned but the most popular were:
Alaska (10.2%), Maine (9.4%), Oregon (9.3%), Colorado (7.3%)and Washington (6.3%).

People certainly think Alaska is beautiful.  Exploring by RV in particular, with "wonderful scenery and lots to see".  Wildlife was mentioned often and fishing was popular.

Maine is very popular - for many reasons mainly the natural beauty, the beaches and the weather, although worth mentioning are "the loons on the lake at night", "whale watching" and perhaps "Patten Pond outside of Ellsworth where Elvis performs on Friday nights".

Thank you to those who took part.
