REPLACING
RV TIRES
BY bradnjan
Always,
always look at
the DOT code
on the tires.
It will end
like
.....0305,
meaning that
tire was made
in the 3rd
week of 2005.
older tires
will only have
3 numbers at
the end, like
489...meaning
the 48th week
of 1999.
Whatever you
subscribe to,
the 5 year
group, the 6
year group,
the 7 year
group or the
wait til it
blows out
group, you
need to know
what you are
riding on.
Personally,
after they are
6 years old, I
begin to sweat
profusely.
Tread wear and
side cracks
aren't gonna
be the factor.
AGE on these
tire is the
limiting
factor. Always
think it is
funny when
folks say
their RV has
"70%
tread
left."
Means
nothing...how
old are they?
Also, beware
tire dealers
will sell you
stuff that is
up to 3 years
old! ALWAYS
read the DOT
codes for
yourself
before you let
them put
anything on. A
3 year old
tire us half
gone! Tires
within 6
months are
about the best
you can find.
