TANK
SIZE
BASIC ADVICE
FOR NEW RVERS

Could some

important tank
size is? Ken

Tom, It really
depends on how
you're going to
use the RV. If
you're going to
be using RV
parks always,
then usually
there is a hook
up available to
dump your tanks
whenever you
want, so tank
size doesn't
matter. You
could even leave
the gray tank
valve open (not
recommended but
I sometimes do
it) and
everything
drains away as
you're using it.
One reason not
to do this is
you usually use
the contents of
the gray tank to
flush the line
after you dump
the black tank.
On the other
hand, if you
intend to use
the RV to
boondock or stay
somewhere where
there are no
hookups then the
size of the
tanks is very
important. Very
often, it is as
simple as the
bigger the RV
the bigger the
tanks.
Manufacturers
only have so
much space
available. I've
found with our
32 foot RV that
with 2 people
showering each
day and the
usual water
usage and toilet
flushing that
the tanks only
last for a day,
2 at the most.
If we're very
careful we could
maybe go three
days. So
whatever you do
you need to find
somewhere to
dump tanks
fairly often.
Hope this helps.
