Coachmen was recently bought out by Warren Buffet. When he came aboard--- he actually discarded RVs that had not been sold and told everyone to 'start over from scratch'. I think you might find that the newer models are nothing like those built several years ago.

In spring of '06 we bought a Coachman Chapperal TT, we used it a month, and a fitting came apart, and flooded the entire camper we have pictures of water pouring out of all 4 corners,of our 1 mo old camper. The reason we bought the unit is because I had to be in a clean environment while going through a bone marrow transplant. Need less to say with that much water flowing through it mold started forming instantly, & my Doctor's wouldn't let me set foot back in it. It took over a month of arguing with Coachman, but they did replace it with a new unit. This one is now 4yrs old and has done great. I guess there are flaws in everything, but no matter what you buy, double check all the fittings to make sure they are tight!

Thinking of buying a 2007 Coachman sportscoach 40QS quad w/350 turbo cat and 25000 miles. Looks really good. Is anyone famiular with this unit?

WE BOUGHT A NEW COACHMAN 36'AURORA FULL SIDE SLIDE IN NOV. OF '08. IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. HYDRAULIC LINE TO BACK LEVELERS WAS RUN NEXT TO MUFFLER... BURNED IN TO. SEVERAL MOLDING PIECES INSIDE OF COACH CAME LOOSE. WHEN LIFTING THE BACK TWO LEVELERS ON A VERY SMALL SLANT, BOTH BENT (BRACES TOO WEAK)! DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMPLY CAME LOOSE & SPUN AROUND ON TOP OF COACH. GENERATOR IS TOO SMALL. TRIPS EASILY. STEP MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. PLUG WIRE SHORTED OUT!(WAS UP AGAINST MANIFOLD). LADDER TO LOW! BROKE OFF TWICE PULLING OUT OF SERVICE STATIONS. HAD TO CUT IT OFF SEVERAL INCHES & RUN PIPE INSIDE. WATER PRESSURE PUMP POOR. VERY LOW WATER PRESSURE! ON & ON THE LIST GOES!! WE WILL NEVER RECOMMEND COACHMAN TO ANYONE! OUR '96 COACHMAN MOTOR HOME WAS MUCH TOUGHER & SERVED US WELL!! WE THOUGHT WE WERE UPGRADING!

I have a question - not sure if I'm in the right spot - I recently bought a 2 year old Clipper 128 st Sport. It seems when it rains, water goes into the channels at the bottom of the side walls and drains away - for the most part. However, it seems to collect under the panel access for the fridge, and storage compartment.
As a result, it has seeped onto the floor causing some minor, but noticable water damage. (If you look for it, which I always do!) I took it to a local Coachmen dealer and they said it would work best to check to make sure there is no debris at the bottom of the drain holes in the channel - they suggested I use a garden hose to do so - I did this and some water came into the camper. I did manage to clear out some debris. They also suggested that drilling additional drain holes would help as well (which I did). Now the problem seems to be worse. My question is - why are these channels even there? To me the logical thing is to silicone them so that water doesn't get in in the first place. The tech at the dealer said people who have sealed them usually have to have it re-done; to me that's better than having water directed to the bottom of the walls. Does anyone have any insight or ideas? My instinct is to seal the channels, but don't want to do so until someone with more experience can shed some light on this. That has to be the most bizarre design I have ever seen!

We've owned a 2005 Coachmen Capri travel trailer since late in the model year. The refrigerator has always been problematic (getting it to start cooling and continue cooling without error messages) since we bought it. The latest issue is with water damage to the sub-flooring caused by a hole in the underside near a wheel well (poor Coachmen build quality again). Now there is a bow in the flooring near the bathroom/kitchen area. This promises to be an expensive fix. Would not buy a Coachmen again.

Where do i start? I bought a 2004 Coachman Rendezvous at the show in tampa florida in 2003. Good looking unit that had all we wanted in an rv and a lot of things we didnt. Drivers side window leaked so bad the rear view mirror is now held on by only the fiberglass. The left side of the unit delaminated front to rear. Register rv in brooksville florida had it 6 weeks and replaced only the rear 1/4 from the slide back. Crappy job cut the side and when reinstalled left a crack and unmatched paint at the seam. The shower leaked so bad i had to remove the carpet from the dining area that was full of mold and mildew. I removed the wall between the shower and dinette to find the leak under the shower and had to throw the paneling away full of mildew. The leak has caused a bow in the kitchen floor that is out of this world. Step on it and its like being on a diving board. Register also had to remove the carpet when we first bought it to remove all of the wood chips and staples that where sticking thru the carpet. Of course all of the warranties are long gone and i am left on my own to fix everything. The cruise control has never worked. Register said they could find nothing wrong, unit has a vibration at 55 mph which is obviously a driveshaft issue and register said there was nothing wrong. To add insult to injury the side they replaced is delaminating. I would never recommend a coachman to anyone. If there is a lawsuit coming count me in. $135,000 for a piece of junk

I'm seriously considering buying a 2009 Spirit of America (Alumicage version)trailer. Is Coachmen quality good?

My wife and I just bought a 2009 coachman captiva. We have had it a month. The shower is leaking it always blows the breakers if i have the lights on and try to run the micro. The dealer we bought it from is no help.

I purchased a new 07 Coachman Concord in August on 07. Since that time my coach has been in the shop over 3 months with repairs mostly water leaks and damages. Now Coachman is suggesting I take it to their dealer in Indiana so they can make the repairs that the dealers Happy Trails in Rockwall and Lone Star RV in Harker, Texas could not make. I am really frustrated the $92,000.00 unit would have so many problems and have to be in the shop so much. Water leaks, electrical problems and just on and on.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do, or who I can get in touch with? Is there a site that would discuss problems such as this. My email address is jerrycrum1@tx.rr.com

This sounds fantastic. Could make RVs lighter so we can carry more with less weight restrictions and maybe cheaper!! Bring it on.

I think that quality is the top consumer concern in the RV industry and I hope all the other manufacturers are taking it just as seriously. Congratulations to Coachmen.
